Coach Employee Discount

At my previous job, there was an intern who I noticed had great Coach bags. I complimented her grey patent Zoe. That was when she told me her sister works for the Coach Public Relations department in New York.

I jokingly asked if her sister could hook me up. I told her that I was looking for a golden apple keyfob that I tried to find at the boutique but it wasn't showing up in the system. I gave the intern the style number and she asked her sister if she could find it. The intern told me that her sister could get the keyfob for free for me so perhaps certain employees can get certain items like keyfobs for free?

whoa! i like that! lol :D
wish i can get keyfobs for free hahaha

i dont know but my friend at work got a op art sabrina for $160 after taxes... so it must be around 50% off.. her best friend works at a coach store and bought it for her with her discount.

i asked my ex-fave boutique SA how much discount she gets after reading it from here somewhere months ago. she pretended to not hear me so i went like i heard it was 65% (which i thought was absurd at the time) and she said "no, we don't get as much!". right.

^^^ I think they get 50% off and the seasonal employees get the 65%. The reg. employees also get a better discount on deletes that are going to the outlets, though they have to be physically in the boutique and can't be ordered.

I used to work for COACH, so I'll give it up. I don't care! LOL.
Its 50% discount on full priced items in the store. You get the "deletes" which are things being sent to the outlet for 65% off. At the outlet you get the same, which is the 65% off original price.
The discount is pretty good, but the working conditions aren't the greatest. SO many rules, and then the one that I worked at always had us "on call" instead of just scheduling you for the evening, you'd have to call in 2 hours prior to your shift to see if you had to work that night.
The dress code, year round is black sweaters, black or khaki pants, and a white collared shirt. Did I mention BLACK SWEATER in the summer? Yeah. Seemed pretty stupid to us too.

exactly! My friend works for Coach and that is the exact discount she gets. At the outlet it isnt 65% off of the clearance price, but 65% off of the regular price on the tag.

i really don't understand the big secret on their discount..... this gets asked a lot... there are serveral coach SA's on here... yet we can never get a straight answer..... ugh......

I think that the Coach Corp. would frown on making that info generally publicly known. I think it's fair to assume that while Coach is willing to give employees a good discount (esp. because it would look bad for Coach employees not to be using the product), that they are not willing to lose money on the items they sell employees. So my assumption would be that the profit margins on everything in the store are easily more than 50-65% of the full price. (I already assumed this based on the prices at the outlets.) This might make some customers a little less willing to pay full price for bag (which is the last thing that Coach Corp wants!).
jess

I wonder if it is required that the female employees wear high heels? I always see the SAs standing around in heels and think that must be so painful to be on your feet all day in heels.

Usually the companies that you think would be really fun to work for end up being the strictest ones. I have heard about a certain theme park that really stinks to work for, but that would be way OT :) But I wonder if working there and perhaps not enjoying it would cause you to not like the handbags so much. My sister worked for this homemade candy store. They had THE best chocolate. But the owner was such a witch and my sister had such a negative experience she never ate their candy again.

I have thought about applying at Coach part time too so was curious to know more about the behind the scenes.

I have a favorite SA and I asked her all the time about working at the store. The thing I don't like working in there is that you can't sit down and you have to ask permission all the time to go to the bathroom.

i just applied to work at coach for the summer since i'm a teacher and need something, otherwise i'll go insane. i'm in the store enough and know all of the sa's, so i figured it would work :smile1:

the strictness of the dress code is crazy! this means i couldn't have my nails painted any color except red or neutral all summer long! i imagine it would feel nice to be dressed nice everyday, surrounded by beautiful coach things and taking stuff home w/ 50% every now and then :smile1: definitely a nice change from the daily abuse i get from students and the no air conditioning, lol. i'll let you all know if i get the job :smile1:

ahhhh...this all makes sense...i was once telling a manager the great discount i got at the outlet...she's rather snooty anyways, but said...that's about what we get with our employee discount...but in a rather condescending way...but yeah, that would make sense with 65% off deletes

i'm with bunny...i'd love to work at my coach store...but there's something nice about being a customer...i would not want to ruin my relationships with my SA's...it would be awkward

Yep, I would rather keep my relationship with those individuals on a customer-business sense than be an employee like them and I have a feeling the totem-pole of getting-good-items-set-aside-for-you would not be the same. They often tell me I know so much, but just because you know a lot about something doens't mean you need to work there :0 There is nothing wrong w/ knowing a lot about something you invest your time and $$ into.
