Hee, hee, it won't ever be me!! :D

The only time I shop over at Court is when my friend wanted to eat at Legal Seafood and generally just quickly at Bloomies or Macys. I don't really like the Coach store there...I was in there one time I think, and they didn't have much, and I was unable to get the info I needed. Mostly I'm over in the Plaza. I really like the gallery store, and that one is far better than Short Hills IMO. I don't live in PA, though, so it's rare that I'm over at KOP...usually just once or twice a month.

Also, I have to admit something.... ;) I would actually never go into a Coach carrying an Abbey, because I don't like it when someone manages to recognize me from the forum that I don't know, lol. That happened a few weeks ago at another store at KOP and kind of freaked me out, lol. It's also happened at other places a handful of times. I know, I'm totally strange like that, but usually if I'm going to Coach, I don't make it "obvious"! There are some SAs that realize I'm on the forum, but I try to keep a low profile because sometimes it's hard to go between the two, and I've had a problem with one SA in particular that I won't go into details here. I don't lie about who I am, but I would rather keep a low profile. Really, though... It's not that I don't like meeting new people because I do, but this kind of thing sometimes bothers me. Suffice it to say it's DEFINITELY a good thing I'm not a celebrity. I'm kind of shy. :p

Baglady, it sounds like you ARE a celebrity, you're like the Angelina Jolie of Coach! Lol, can you autograph my wristlet, please? :D

I go on my first interview with the Coach outlet tomarrow!!! OMG! I don't know what to do. I'm freaking! Sucky thing is I have to take out my monroe piercing... Even though it's cute and danty.

Any advice?

I don't remember if I've posted this here or not, so I might be a pete the repeat, sorry if I am.

I remember my outlet SA's having a conversation about this when I FIRST started shopping there. I DO remember them saying that their bag limit purchases (with employee discount) per month was 4 which seems like PLENTY to me. I also remember them saying there was also a limit on accessories, but don't recall that number. I do remember them saying 4 bags per month!!! I also THINK I recall them mentioning their discount was 65% OFF of the FULL RETAIL PRICE and that they are almost always better off paying the discounted red-lined prices unless they wanted to order something BRAND NEW!!!

^^^It was awhile ago that I over heard this, so it maybe old/inaccurate info!! IDK?!

YEP, 50% mark-up. I used to own a small tanning salon and you know those lotions you pay $60 and $70 bucks for? They are only 1/2 that at cost which is why there IS ROOM for these retailers to run sales, coupons & PROMO's and still pocket the profit. I never marked my lotions up another 50%, I usually either marked them up 30-40% OR I'd run a PROMO for a certain $$$ amount off with the purchase of tanning minutes!! All about getting the people in the door, KWIM?!

ITA. I think the usual markup for any beauty items is at leat 50%. My sister is a beautician and the standard markup at a beauty shop is 50% - so the retail price is twice what she pays to buy the stuff. She lets me buy really expensive shampoos, makeup, etc. from her for her cost. And she's just the final retail location, there have to be markups for other people before the products even get to her shop.

Regarding the uniform...

I worked for a chocolate retailer all through HS and college. We had to wear the same uniform as Coach. And NO RED nail polish. The point was to NOT compete with the product. When you are in retail, the point it to exhibit the product, either on your body (a la American Eagle, Gap, etc) or no compete (a la edibles, handbags, etc)

Just my 2 cents.

A couple of years ago I worked as a "model" for Abercrombie & Fitch. We got 30% off clothes, accessories, etc. (maybe even gift cards, too - though I know employees are not allowed to pay with GCs), but no discount on clearance items (I'm assuming that COACH is the same with employees and clearance items?). Managers got something like 45% off? Every quarter, we got 50% off something like 2 pairs of jeans, a pair of flip-flops, and shirts. Our "dress code" colors changed every so often with floor changes. It was very modest; they encouraged wearing A&F, but I think they had a lawsuit, so we could wear anything that fit "the look". We had to wear flip-flops year round; though, it was frowned upon, we could also wear Chuck Taylors. Nothing Black. A pair of earrings in EARLOBES. No jewelry, except maybe their bracelets. I believe that we also had some on-call thing, too. It was quite a pain to work there meticulously re-folding everything every minute lol We got paid, pretty much, minimum wage, so it's for darn sure that most employees put that money back into A&F!! So all these companies people think that would be awesome to work at, most of the time aren't! Sometimes being a customer, you get treated better than being an employee! lol ;)

haha, I know exactly what you mean, it was a pain in the A$$ to work at A&F, I use to work there back in the day and I just used all my money that I made and gave it right back by spending it on clothes there!!

Hi, too funny that people would recognize you by your bag being from TPF! Every where I go, people don't recognize me from my purse but from where I worked!!! (I worked in customer service at Kohls) Now, I walk into other stores or even a temp job I worked at and people will look at me and say "you look familiar" or " I know you from somewhere". I will say "Kohls" and they say "that's it"!

Lynne :D

Since my kids are finally going to school full time I was considering a job at the Coach outlet until I can find a good job - but not so sure now - it seems I would feel like a teenager again with so many rules - like asking to go to the bathroom? Really? I cant believe you have to do that.

If you want to know the discount for the Coach Employee's are it 60% at the Outlet and 50% at the Full Price Stores. All the employee's get this deal..

We only get 65% off before it gets deleted. IE: Goes to the Factory Outlet. At NO OTHER TIME do we get 65%. Also, it is true there is a limit on what we can buy at 65% off.

I heard that it was 65% of the MRSP price. And there is a limit to how many they can buy.

but sometimes the sale is better then the discount

We weren't allowed to wear khakis... had to be black or gray solid colored pants. White button up, collared shirt under pretty much everything and yes, black "seasonal weight" sweaters. French manicure, natural or red nails only... black shoes or coach shoes. Could wear black or gray skirts and of course pantyhose. I forget what else... natural makeup, only tiny non-flashy jewelry, etc.

Agree with the discount mentioned here though and I worked at the outlet only.

So does the white button down collard shirt be short sleeves?
