Y’all I can’t even lie… I think I might be into this. The navy version may have sold me. Also he did it on a Brooklyn in a different way - looks impractical and like it would be annoying to work around but they look weirdly fun to have on the bags 😅
I'm about to fly with my 48 for the first time in 2 weeks, I will report back! I'm going to be using my honey brown, so I was debating getting another larger type of bag from Target or something made of nylon to cover/protect it on the floor. At the same time I want the bag to patina and show wear like the original runway bags, it's more of a sanitary reason for me. lol
I am debating getting either the 28 or 40 in honey. I love the bigger bags, I'm just worried the 40 might be too redundant when having the 48. I love how these bags show wear with use. With the Merlot probably being the most unique color due to the hand applied burnishing and each bag being different, the individual wear just adds more personality to your bag haha
Is the belt going through the side strap/sangle loop? That is kind of cool. I don't mind this with another leather, the CC canvas belt just didn't seem to fit the bag. Then I'm looking at the Brooklyn with the CC canvas belt and think it looks great lol...
Maybe just get a clear plastic disposable bag to stick it in when it’s under the seat?
I finally received my honey brown 28 yesterday from when it was on Amazon. I’m not sure you can see but it came with these “creases” in the leather (right side of bag). They are very visible in person. I don’t know if it was from storage or shipping?? Do we think they’ll go away or should I return and order another?
I wondered if it was through the loop but he actually just wrapped it around the bag (over the current side straps so they’re hidden) and tightened to secure the belt. About, still curious about how it impacts the bag’s accessibility but yeah you’re right the change in leather works for sure.

Agree, I think bring like a reusable bag that folds flat or the dust bag (if you don’t mind washing when you get home). Only thing I’d say is I’ve heard the 48 might be difficult to squish under the seat so you might need to put it overhead instead.
I think you're right. I flew with a 40 and I had to push the handles to the side and smoosh the top down to get it to fit. It stuck out into the foot rest area almost to where they would ask to put the bag in an overhead compartment.
My two Empire bags. 40 Merlot and 28 in Honey Brown. Gotta find the perfect charm! The Honey Brown has more grain than my Merlot. I love them both! I do with the Honey Brown had a little more burnishing effect, but it's still really nice.
This is such a good size for this style! Also love the contrast with the Merlot. Congrats!

I would return this bag. The stitching is bad (on the upper left around the tab and also just above that)....I hope it's not a fake??
