I noticed the stitching too, I've actually exchanged quite a few bags due to stitching issues. It's really interesting, some bags are PRISTINE, perfect glazing, stitching, etc, while others have sharp bumps on the glazing, stitching issues, also weird discoloration on the glazing. I'm not sure why some are made so well, and others just seem thrown together. I do see the bump in the leather on the side, that might have been how it was stuffed, with some of the paper pushing out on the leather. I actually haven't seen that before, and I've exchanged like 7 of these bags

I also got word from my store that they are starting to slowly discontinue the Empire 40s and 48s. They will keep the smaller sizes, but they are starting to phase out the larger models.

I called customer service earlier over an account issue, and while I was on the phone I asked if they were coming out with any other colors of the Empire 48, or if it's being discontinued, etc. The rep mentioned that sometime around July/August a "loved leather" version will be coming out. She said it's under the Empire 48, but sounds like a whole new bag. I wonder if they are bringing out a distressed version?

That would be good!! That's what it sounds like to me.

Yeah they only made 50 of them! They did a quiet soft launch at their flagship stores before releasing the $895 Empires :( They hand distressed each one at their NYC workshop. One sold on eBay in March for $4,000 lol. I just love that hand distressing! I could try it myself...but I just don't know if it would be the same haha

I guess there was a big outcry that they never made more of the honey color, so they released the 48 in honey for this Spring without the distressing. Maybe they are hearing customers want the distressed ones and are going to bring it back a second time 🙌

I’ve tried on a few Empire styles lately too, and the 28 in honey brown really stuck with me. It’s such a soft, rich shade that goes with basically everything, and the size is super manageable without feeling too small. I noticed a bit of burnishing as well when I looked closely under the store lights, but it actually gave the bag more depth. And yeah, those yellow hang tags are way cuter in person than I expected.
