I am proud of my Empire 40. I was able to use my handbag and charms to charm the folks to renew my apartment for next year at a huge discount!

5% off is a little annoying tbh with a stitching issue on a bag this pricey. I had a similar issue with a bag by a small brand (it was on a removable crossbody strap) and when I sent them a message about it, they immediately offered a 10% refund. But at least the bag is stunning and the burnishing is so so good 😍I actually only use the 48! But I'm a 6'1 guy, so it still feels BIG but not huge. I wouldn't bring it on a plane (too difficult to put in an overhead or under your seat due to its height), but I took the black on a road trip, and it was really great with lots of compliments.
I recently picked up a Merlot 48, I got super lucky with a local random restock. I exchanged my Maple 48 for it. I was going to use my Merlot for the first time today for a day trip, but I noticed a pretty obvious stitching issue. Unfortunately they are sold out everywhere, so if I want this color/size I'm kind of stuck with it. They offer warranty repair for stitching the first year, I just don't know if I want to send a brand new bag in for warranty work just yet lol.
I had this issue on another bag, the stitch ended up getting snagged by something and ripped the whole strand out
Customer service offered me 5% off to keep it. The rest of the bag is gorgeous, I'll just have to get this repaired somewhere down the line

I actually had kind of a complicated situation with this bag, but my local store is so awesome it ended up working out. I guess with online orders, they can apply a 5 or 10% discount for issues like this (if you accept this option, you can't return or exchange it).5% off is a little annoying tbh with a stitching issue on a bag this pricey. The twillys and charms are fabulous on this! Also love the strap. I haven't been in Chanel in a long time, their leather quality just doesn't match the price IMO. I'm wondering with the new CD having experience with high end leather bags if the quality will improve
Oh wow! The honey brown in the 48 is a rarity these days! Very lucky find. The swap was worth it then. I’d be irritated at having to send in my brand new full price bag for repairs too so glad you were able to make something work.I actually had kind of a complicated situation with this bag, but my local store is so awesome it ended up working out. Since I purchased my bag in a retail store, online customer service couldn't apply it on their end, so they sent a message to the store I purchased it from to apply the discount.
As of last month, the stores no longer apply discounts for defects, especially for in demand bags. I was like well shoot, the bag is sold out everywhere in this color, so my other option was to send it in for a repair. I didn't really want to send a brand new bag in for repair that was less than a week old, so my local store allowed me to exchange for a honey brown 48!
I loved the Merlot...the burnishing was 5 star, but stitching issues really bother me
I always wanted the honey brown in the size 48, so I was thrilled with the outcome. It's a shame a bag had to be damaged out over stitching. I hope it's able to go to an employee at a discount, I'm not really sure what happens to bags that are damaged out.
I took this picture in not the best lighting, but there is some subtle burnishing on the top! I think I'm on an Empire break now...lol. It seems limited to stores only, but it's such a cool color in this size, hopefully it becomes more widely available online for others.

Thank you! I was shocked they still had them in stock, I think my store received a small shipment late last week (Brea California, the managers there are amazing). I'm not usually into the light browns either. This color is like the polar opposite of Merlot lol, but something about THIS light brown stole my heart. They only made the honey brown in the 48 for the 2024 runway, but they were hand distressed in their NYC workshop and sold in really limited quantities at double the price. I think with time and use, this bag will achieve a similar distressing. Excited for you to get the 28 in honey!!Oh wow! The honey brown in the 48 is a rarity these days! Very lucky find. Honestly these honey brown posts are convincing me. I’m not usually a light brown bag girl but between this and the other tan bags I’ve seen here recently, I think they’re selling me on the Honey Empire 28 (currently waiting for it to arrive) becoming my first in this shade!
@pjfirst - Great idea! Thank you for sharing this. I have been wearing my Dark Navy Empire 40 every day, and this shorter strap might be a great purchase for me to make. For the empire 40/48 fans, I recently purchased an extra strap from Mautto Accessories on Etsy. The long strap that comes with my Navy 40 just hits at such an awkward angle (even on the shortest). I planned to have Coach add extra holes to the strap so I could wear it more comfortably on the shoulder (still plan on doing so) but decided to get a separate Navy 30” strap as well. I haven’t worn it out yet but the length is perfect now. Gives me more flexibility in how I can carry the bag. Also tried to pick hardware that feels in line with coach and the brushed gold works.
Listing for the strap here.
