Oh MM, poor bag strap and so sorry for you!
On the scientific side I do understand why you did it... At least now the rest of us now know what NOT to do.
Oh well, there always has to be some sacrifices in the name of science ;)

I've recently managed to get a chocolate Joelle for a steal, due to the fact that the shop had the bag too close to a halogen light and it had damaged the handle.

Its about a 2" area of the handle, its gone quite hard and a different colour, and I wondered if anyone had any thoughts about what to do to it.

I'm toying with putting some dubbing on it, (footballers use it to make their new boots more supple) and then rubbing a bit of brown shoe polish into it, to at least get it to a chocolate brown colour, its currently more like a chestnut than a chocolate colour.

I'd be ever so grateful if any "professional" Mulberry owners had any thoughts or suggestions.

Thanks in advance, Melanie.

PS Fuzzy . I got denim marks on my shimmy and they have come off with 'Lord Sheraton leather Balsam' This is actually more for upholstery but it worked , I wouldn't want to use it too often though.
Found in the home cleaning/ polish section of most good supermarkets ( and also some bad ones ) cheap as chips too !

Cheers Poppy - forgot about this thread!
Btw I only used a tiny tiny bit of polish on a soft duster and gently rubbed ( a bit of pink came off as well ) but it removed the stains leaving no trace.
Be interesting to see if it works on cream/ paler leathers - it won't make it any worse !

Thanks poppy, I recognise the name of the cleaner, sure it's in Asda. Did it change the colour of the leather?

Hi
No it didn't change the colour at all - in fact I can't tell where the marks used to be. I treated them as soon as I noticed (same day) so I don't think any denim dye 'sunk' in . The bag has been heavily collinilled before use so whether the denim was sat on the collonil layer I'm not sure - some pink did come off at the same time though.

whoops crossed posts !
The pink coming off was minimal - not affected the bag - it was only a pale smudge of pink colour on the duster.
I did think at the time that I should be taking photos for reference - how sad am I ?

Fuzzy, I used fragrance-free, all natural baby wipes on my oak Rosie and it worked a treat. Alternatively you can get some Woly cream (not sure of exact name). Snowshoe has used that on many of her bags to salvage them.

Great thread!
I noticed today that my black wool coat has been rubbing off on my oak Bays, and fortunately someone had bumped this thread before I had the time to freak out :smile1:. I tried the baby wipes tip using Natusan, and it worked perfectly!

Hi,
I removed a red ball pen from suede inside of my Mulberry (stupid sales assistant marked the price and touched the bag!) by carefully erasing by a very pointed (cut) soft eraser, followed by repeated application of blue -tack in order to lift suede fibers again. The pen mark is not there any more, however around this place suede became darker under certain light.
From the leather surfaces I tried cuticura surgical spirit gel on a cotton bud - again, apply very gently, beware that the colour may start to come off. ;)
