The brass disc on my chocolate Somerset purse was pretty tarnished so I decided that I would clean it with some "Bar keepers friend" cleaner.

This was a big mistake as the brass disc on the front now looks like this:

The back of the disc is still fine but I fear I have wrecked the front and am really really upset with myself.

Can anyone suggest anything I can do to improve it ? I can't really justify buying a replacement but I feel I have spoilt my lovely purse.
Hi Candysroom,

The gold colour is simply a thin metal coating, which you've managed to remove. It would be worth contacting Mulberry repairs who will advise you (if you send them photographs) of the cost to replace the tag (if possible) which would be cheaper than replacing your purse.......

....contact Customer Repairs on +44 (0) 1749 822 131 or [email protected]

Thank you all . I have contacted customer services in the hope that they can help me. I just got fed up with cleaning it so often and used desperate ( or stupid as it is also called) measures duh!

Has anyone tried the new Collonil Nano Pro Spray instead of the usual Collonil Waterstop spray

I had a problem with colour transfer on my Apricot Small Del Rey and wondered if this is better
I had sprayed her lots but I still had transfer from a black dress the first time I used her. I have now used the Furniture Clinics Protection cream and haven't had a problem since although she's not been out much

I was just hoping to find something full proof I don't want to keep worrying everytime I use her. I have other light coloured bags & never had this problem before

The nano spray states "Nano structures shield textiles and leather fibres to make them highly resistant to water and stain"

Any thought Ladies ?

Wow it's really beautiful....!!!! Understand your concern!!

I use Collonil Diamant creme and a synthetic cloth. Takes the colour transfer. But I'm not sure how to prevent it totally. I guess I will use the cloth at least once a week on my Alexa PP which is almost the same colourtone.

Aaw Candysroom, don't beat yourself up about it. As Izzy has said, Mulberry have replaced hardware so hopefully they can do the same for you and then you'll have a brand new disc. I have my fingers crossed that Mulberry repairs will be able to fix this easily for you.

So, I've just received this preloved organiser and I do love it. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions how I could freshen it up a bit. It started off as oak and now has a lovely colour to it but any suggestions on products to use would be great :smile1:

Thank you. CC
One thing leads to another -

I find myself thinking that I could drive to Shepton Mallet and hand it In there to " save postage". The fact that its a 3 or 4 hour round trip and the cost of fuel and the likelyhood of not walking away with something new at the same time....

I fear it might be a very expensive saving! Perhaps the special delivery postage would be better !

Hi,
I just got a Del Rey in suede/leather, and I know I need to put this protectant on, but where do you find it? Also, is there two different kinds for each leather, i.e. one for suede and another for leather? I read this is what Mulberry recommends. Thanks ladies!

I have the water stop spray and the instructions say to spray on suede, I have done this on the revers of my Effie flap as that's suede and so far do good, no finger marks at all. Love to,see a pic of your bag

Hi, thanks.....I think I did see one on Ebay that said good for suede and leather. I will post a pic of her, yep. So happy I got her! LOVE LOVE LOVE....but afraid to use. She's just a lovely shade of tan. Really wanted the "oxblood" shade, but can't find one. I am leery of some sellers on Ebay, because I got a fake Union Jack one last fall. I would have never known, except I found this site and posted, and sure enough, fake UJ Bays.....No idea what to do with it :(

Here is a pic of her. ImageUploadedByPurseForum1378174843.061324.jpgSo afraid to take her out. Been using my Polly all summer. She can take a beating. But this suede/leather as I read needs prepped first. So I hope I can find the right answer. Live in USA so I can't walk into a Mulberry store and ask. Sorry the pic is dark. Couldn't figure how to send from my computer so just used the phone pic. I googled, and it's called Brushed Leather, Milk Chocolate Del Rey. I love it! I want one in every color. It's my favorite style of the line. I'm addicted to Mulberry now. This style is so "SPEEDY". LOVE! Any help on what exactly to use would be great....Thanks!
