I got perm marker off a friend's oak babington with the following.

I covered the mark with low tack masking tape, then collonilled the bag all around the mark, let it dry, collonilled, dry, collonilled, dry.

I then used a cotton bud dipped in surgical spirit and lightly swabbed the mark - it came off in layers - and I let it dry so I didnt get the leather saturated. I then wiped the mark area with a baby wipe, nourished it with Mulberry cream (I hear Clarks Premium is better though) and then I collonilled it a few times, then buffed the bag.

It took ages - over a weekend - But it came out.

I am now known by Sephy as St Ellie of Persephone's Babington!! (....which I pointed out made me sound like the runner-up at Crufts)

I find that rubbing a bit of vaseline into my darwin choc Phoebe gets rid of any scratches/scuffs really easily, although I'm not sure if I'd try this on an oak bag or one made from a different type of leather. Works for choc darwin though!

Fuzzy, I used fragrance-free, all natural baby wipes on my oak Rosie and it worked a treat. Alternatively you can get some Woly cream (not sure of exact name). Snowshoe has used that on many of her bags to salvage them.

Best baby wipes are Huggies Pure.

Hey, this emergency thread should really be a sticky one!

Dark jeans marks on my aqua colored Joni nappa leather bag can't be removed then? Went out on Sunday and it started raining a bit. Noticed the stains yesterday. Blah!

I haven't tried anything yet. I read a thread of someone who had dyed some oak colored bag dark brown at the cobblers. Maybe I should do that too.

no don't dye it whatever you do!!!!!!!!!
Try the collonil gel first.

I tried the fine sandpaper trick on my choc Roxy last night. It only worked to a degree, i.e. on the more superficial stains, which lay on top of the suede fibres. For the more persistent stains I used a large grained emery board and although it seemed to give the suede a slightly better appearance, it couldn't get rid of the stains completely.

The emery board worked well on the inside of one of the front pockets of the Roxy which had some red glue-like substance stuck to it. As it's very awkward to reach it with sandpaper, the emery board was a lot easier to use for this.
