Many thanks for your response, very much appreciated.:D

You are very welcome.
I would also recommend to contact the site owner (actually, the producer) - her name is Barbara and she services bags, i.e. cleans them, makes overhauls, repairs, etc, therefore she is very knowledgeable. Once, I talked with her and used to exchange e-mails about my bags - I was amazed by her knowledge. After that, I ordered a leather care kit and was more than happy with it. There are several specific products and I am glad I have them - for each of my bags. She also knows the leather, brand types, etc and can give you valuable brand-leather-related advices.

However, again - For Handles Only is surely a top product and works on veg tanned leather (I had been scared before application, but it functioned flawlessly)! :smile1:

I spray my bags with Collonil Waterstop spray when I get them and then around once a month after that. I actually received some Collonil lotion as a free gift when I bought my Mabel recently but haven't used it yet. I find the spray works adequately to protect the bags from rain and watermarks although admittedly this has only been really tested on my EW Bays.

I use Collonil Waterstop on the bags. I haven't been very good at spraying them regularly, but I am now - I buy several cans of Collonil in Germany at a time, as I have not been able to find it here in Switzerland. I don't think the staff in the shoe shop understands why I need so much of it, but nevermind that :)

I use one can to spray all of my bags, and I spray them twice a year (less if I haven't used the bags or if I'm not planning on using them).

Spraying seems so smart and sensible. But I can't readily access any Collonil and don't trust any other spray just in case something dire happens. So, I've never sprayed. In fact, I've not done a thing to most of my bags, just loads of TLC.

I also use Collonil religiously on my bags. Collonil is definitely available in Australia via a company called Austra. A good friend of my lives out there and that is who she contacted to get Collonil. Sorry I have no more details but I hope it helps.

I collonil everything except my patents beyond belief, oh and yes, most of them never see daylight!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But I'm working on that gradually and the therapy sessions are having an impact....

Ells xx

I was recommended RM Williams leather care products and spray by an excellent cobbler here - he also claimed there was not all that much difference between the spray's and only laughed when I said I thougth Collonil was the only thing to use on these bags...

Collonil is ab fab, I use my A4 roxanne tote to DEATH, it gets carried everywhere, gym, work and pleasure. So far its had 1litre bottle of water spilage at gym, coffee cup at work and glass of RED wine spilt over it and it stills looks fab with NO marks or stains on it...collonil is FAB !!

Hi. I have a Mulberry Angelica in the cream/beige coconut Nappa leather which had become quite marked, so I was going to use Collonil lotion to nourish it but it said to waterproof first, so I used Collonil gel then waited a while then used the lotion and now the Nappa has lost it soft squishyness and is a little plasticky firm and a bit sticky. How can I make it squishy again? I will live with the marks but I love the softness of the Nappa.
Thankyou!:):smile1:

Hello everyone.

I received a small accessory from Shepton today, but there is a small (about 4mm long) biro mark on the back. The item is made of the bright pink patent. Does anyone have an idea of how I can remove the pen mark, without damaging the finish please?

Hi Fuzzog - I found this on the Internet...........

There are other links to suggestions, too, one of which will hopefully help.

Or, can you send the item back for a replacement and ask them to pay the return postage?

Thank you MM

I'm returning it. The mark seems to be underneath a layer of patent - if that makes sense.....

I have to pay for the return postage, but I'm hoping they'll refund me the original postage amount I paid......

I'm a little bit gutted, as I liked the goodies they sent with the bag - the cards, stickers etc. Obviousl, I'll have to return these too. :shrugs:

Fuzz, I have no interest in the cards/stickers/badges I got in my party goody bag and if you pm me your address, I'll pop them in the post to you. The only thing I would have liked was a cotton tote bag, but they hadn't arrived in Dublin in time for the party - and there was no cake either!

Oh thank you!!!!!

I liked the badges mostly - mainly because I thought I could wear the gold badge with the cake on it and the number 40, on my 40th Birthday in December.

Oh you absolute sweetie!!! Thank you sooo much!!!

Sorry about the cake situation - if there's another Irish Rid at SM again next year, I'll bake one and bring it with me

Ooh Fuzz, I'm just wondering which vowel is missing from the Irish Rid... I'm presuming it's the "a" in the middle and not the "e" at the end!!! :sweatdrop:

Whichever - it's a deal on the cake!
