Hello, I'm new to Mulberry..just purchased my first bays (an outlet special) last December. It has been used quite often and I noticed that small cracks are starting to appear at the handles sealant. Any tips on correcting this? should i use the super glue tip from the first page? Thanks.

I have a peony pink hayden which my jeans seemed to have dyed the back of. Any suggestions?

bellachillie - the care card which came with my plonge lambskin leather bag confirms "care to be taken when wearing dark clothing as some dyes from clothing can migrate to the leather surface".

Jeans dye is unstable and is the main problem re colour transfer to the bag. There have been threads regarding colour transfer. (This can apply to other bags too, not just Mulberry).

I'm not sure what the answer is apart from contacting the furniture clinic, as mentioned by Ondrea in the previous post, who may be able to suggest a solution.

Here is a tip to remove fresh ballpoint stains: take a piece of tape (scotch bright), put it over the stain and pull the tape off. Repeat several times. Afterwards: rub the leather with your fingers/dustbag.
Hi. I am new to this and not sure that I am navigating the site properly but here goes. I am totally obsessed with vintage Mulberry, Congo Bretons and small Messengers in particular. One I have just bought is fab externally but has lots of old biro marks on the lining at the bottom of the bag and a heavy grease stain on the lining under the flap where the thumb print would be from constant opening over the years. I haven't seen any tips for cleaning lining but may be looking in the wrong place. Please can anyone help?

Hi everyone! I am long-time lurker and Mulberry newbie. I just ordered my first Mulberry (reveal later this week after I receive it) and have a question. I live in the US and it doesn't seem like Collonil is not readily available. Is there a recommended alternative? If I were to order it, what would you all suggestion to protect my new purchase? Thank you so much for your advice!

I would like to add my experience related to leather care of my Bayswater in oak natural leather.
I bought a bag some years ago and treated it the way Mulberry suggested (spraying it with Collonil waterstop spray was the only suggested treatment) - I did it several times and saw the leather "opening up" on the top and these white, opened pores were very visible. I posted the photos on forum as well and contacted Mulberry, as the bag was only several months old.
From the Customer Service, I got their usual response (advice to spray the bag and that my "opened pores" on Bayswater were related to usual wear and tear. For anyone understanding anything about leather, it was clear that something was happening with leather, but I was scared to treat it with any nourishing cream.
I put the bag on the shelf and have not used it ever since, by this spring.
Then, with usage, the white pores started showing up more and more.

As desperate as I was, I decided to use Collonil Gold Premium Leather Polish I had for treatment of my other bags.

As a conclusion - it worked WONDERFULLY, all whitish spots have turned into the oak colour and there are no more dryish zones and the polish has not affected the bag colour!!! :yahoo:
(Although at least 5 SAs involved in selling Mulberry (in various shops throughout Europe) advised me against the polish).

It might have been posted somewhere already, but I anyhow decided to post it - the story which should have never happened if someone had advised me what actually to do.

One more experience - I treat the handles with For Handles Only cream by http://www.lovinmybags.com/ and have not seen any darkening so far, although it is to say that I have not used the bag much, so it is to be seen in the future...
I hope this has helped to someone...

my first ever handbag when i was 13 was a mulberry bag and since then i've been in love with them and i remember my mum has had mulberrys for as long as i can remember. however i've only just recently considerd buying the 'gel cleaner/protecter' that mulberry recommend. most of the mulberry bags i've owned have been the tuffer bags like bayswater that i think look nice with a little wear. i've owned softer bags before such as the araline and when i was younger i compleatly ruined that bag by trying to clean it with leather cleaner, since then i've alowed my bags to age with wear and never attempted any proper clean or protection. but my older bags are looking alittle dry and could do with some tlc. and my newer bags i would like to protect. how do i go about giving my older bags a much needed spruce-up and would you recomment the gel for use on my new bags/ older bags too? i'm worried that i will apply it badly and make the leather go funny.

Hi there. If you search around on here, I'm sure you'll find some threads on a similar theme - shame we can't get a 'sticky' thread on this subject.

I've used Collonil & Woly water protecting sprays and for nourishing - Woly Creme (either in neutral or coloured to match), or Clarks Premium leather cream.

I think there's a live thread on a similar subject at the moment - re an oak bays.... have a nosy around & you're sure to find something to help

SuLi, not sure whether you are still looking for Collonil, but Amazon sells it: http://www.amazon.com/Collonil-Waterstop-Spray-10-1-FL/dp/B000POJHP0.

Hello, I didn't know that you could buy a handles only cream? is that what its actually called? is it made by collonil? do you know where i can buy it please? sorry, bombarding you with questions but i would like to stop oil transfer from my hands on to the handles discolouring them if atall possible, many thanks in advance;)

I am curious how do you take care of your Mulberry bag.
Do you spray any protectant? What product do you use? Do you think it's effective?

I was stupid to use my Alexa during my vacation in Bali. Now part of the strap is ruined by the sunscreen I put on my shoulder. I took it to cleaner and was told it's not clear whether they can restore the color since the sunscreen is absorbed into the leather.

Anything I can do?

Hi, I firstly spray the bags with collonil waterstop spray and let them dry, spray again and dry, then polish with the leather cream and a lint free cloth and polish again, the spray i find does stiffen the leather a bit and the polish softens it again, the colour of the leather i've found will darken after doing this to a lovely caramelly colour which i love, hope this helps;)

Hello, no problems, here is the answer, glad to help:
The cream is called For Handles Only, it is not made by Collonil.
I ordered it from this website: http://www.lovinmybags.com/forhandlesonly.html
They ship to Europe.
The cream works like DREAM - no colour transfer, no dark handles anymore.:smile1:
I use it on all my bright coloured handles - no handles darkening at all.
I would really, really suggest it, as it is really a useful cream, as I dislike the dark handles on my bags, they are so much visible.
They ship to Europe; use the cream in accordance with instructions.
I applied the cream on my Mulberry Bayswater handles - they look fine, no darkening, bag has the very same, oak colour in all its parts.
Highly recommended & good luck.
Don't hesitate to ask if you have any other question where I might be helpful.:smile1:
