Scarves Cleaning and Caring for Hermès Scarves

The cold season is pretty much over here so I handwashed all my cashmere/silk scarves before putting them back in storage. I let each scarf soak in cool water with a few drops of Eucalan detergent, rinsed with cool water, rolled the scarf in a white terry towel to remove the excess moisture and ironed on the silk/wool setting while it was still a bit moist (taking care not to flatten the rolled hems). I decided not to press the folds as I had heard that it could weaken the fibers over time. They look as good as new.
Glad you had good results. I am mainly concerned about the red border running into the beige scarf. Did you use dye absorbing sheets. I would be afraid of these fading the scarf.

I did not use dye absorbing sheets, just really cool water to reduce the risk of bleeding. I was particularly concerned about the black dye running in two of my scarves but there was no bleeding at all.

That's good to know. I have only worn my scarf once but it is a light colour so when it needs washing I will refer to your instructions. Thank you.

I hand wash my scarves as well. Usually I use Laundress but am quite curious about the moth-repellent claim from Eucalan. It didn't used to be a concern of mine but I've been spotting moths after moving. I've been trying to find something that would keep them away from my scarves. Do you find eucalan effective in that regard?

I can't really comment on Eucalan's moth-repellent claims. Moths are not a huge problem where I live currently and, in addition to using Eucalan, I store my scarves in boxes with cedar blocks/shavings for extra protection.

I hand washed my cream Caducée Rock CS 100 cm this weekend and it looks like new. No running of colors, bright and fresh. I used The Laundress cashmere wash and very slightly warm water.
ETA: I dried it flat, on a cloth on a rack, and was thrilled that even the slight shape of the rack didn't make any kind of mark or line on the scarf - it dried perfectly and is soft as ever.

Does gentle hand washing remove makeup marks? I just received this scarf which although its in very good condition, has a small brown makeup smudge on one of the white sections. Love the design and the colours really suit me. I'm just debating whether to return it and look for another or keep it. What do you think?

Try spot cleaning with Bioderma miscellar water first. I find that it gently removed stains on my own scarves without having to wash the whole thing.

For those who like The Laundress products, Container Store just sent an email that they are 25% off right now. Couldn't find any information on how long their sale pricing will last.

I just bought the delicate wash and stain solution. Thank you, @Scarf and Glove! I'm going to read through the last twenty pages of this thread before I clean my two scarves, one of which is a newly acquired vintage jacquard with stains on it that I'm going to attempt to remove. AhhhHHhh. I'm so nervous.

I have just removed powder/foundation stains off my red trimmed Bride de Cour
no traces and/or marks left
I used micellar water by Garnier, which i use to remove make-up leftover, just rubbed slightly by a cotton pad soaked with mw
