Do NOT go to Shoe Lab in Canoga Park, CA, in the Topanga Plaza (the big fancy mall in the West San Fernando Valley that has both a NM and a Nordstrom that carry CLs). I did, and this is what they did to my perle Poseidons:http://forum.purseblog.com/christia...poseidons-bad-cobbler-job-im-poed-602624.html

To add insult to injury, they charged me $45 for that job:mad: $45 for this job is what they normally charge, too. They had done the rubber soles for me before and did OK jobs, but I won't be going back anymore after the perle Poseidon incident.

Hi Ladies,

I'm going to be in NYC at the end of July and I was planning on taking some of my shoes to Arty's but after reading alot of these posts I am having second thoughts...

Can anyone suggest a cobbler in NYC that they have used and have gotten great results with? TIA!!

I decided to check out Eddie's for myself, so I took my Leopard Simples, Cate Trash, and Horatios there for the red soles, plus replacement of the heel tips on all 3. I'm so happy, and he charged just $36 for each pair! And they were done very quickly, by the afternoon of the next business day after the day they were each dropped off (I took the Simples in first, then the other 2 were dropped off the next day). And Eddie is very nice. I got bottom and side views on the Trash and Horatios:

^The CL boutique at SCP recommends Deluxe shoe repair in Newport Beach. I've had a pair vibrammed and they did a fabulous job - I would assume that they can shorten the strap also. I know liza has also taken many pairs there.

Richard's a crackup. he's always got this smirk on his face that makes me want to laugh. he did a pretty good job putting the vibrams on my wife's declics and it looks very similar to yours. he had to dye the edges of the vibram soles black or else you'd be able to see the red all around the front. he said the problem with that is, eventually the dye will get knicked and the red will expose itself in those areas. he said, "when that happens, it's gonna look stupid." i don't know why i thought this was hilarious. maybe it was the way he said it. my solution when this does happen - sharpie :smile1:.

This quote was from 2008. Does anyone know if Jack's in SF is still dying the edges of the vibram? Or have they perfected applying the vibram so that there's no need to worry about dye fading? What is the current price being charged if they supply and apply the vibram?

I purchased my first pair of CLs from the Nordstrom at SF Centre and the salesperson said their repair shop can apply a red rubber sole for $40. Wondering if it's safer just to get it done at Nordstrom in case anything goes wrong. I'm being a worry-wart since it's my first pair!

Thanks!

The David's on Bloor Street recommended that I go to the Bay Bloor Shoe Repair to get the vibram rubber soles put on my shoes. Has anyone gone here and did they do a good job? Pictures would help! Thanks!
