i just want to understand the process a little more...should you wear out the soles before getting the rubber soles? and when the cobbler puts them on, he scrapes the red paint off first (so might as well wear it out)?

anyone??
so should i be taking my shoes when they're brand-spanking-new, gently used, or worn all the red off...?

^ There is no real answer to this question. When you take your shoes to be vibramed is strictly a matter of personal preference.

In the process of putting on vibram, yes, the cobbler grinds down and removes the red lacquer on the sole. But if you plan on having your shoes vibramed at some point, it doesn't really matter when you do it.

did they use vibram soles? i work in irvine so maybe ii'll try this place out
do you have an address and the name of the guy who helped you?

From their Yelp pictures, it doesn't look like they use Vibrams but whatever they are - :p they look good! I called and they're open M-F 8:30am-6:30pm and Sat 9-5:30... when i called, they said they charge $25 for a pair of louboutin rubber soles fix/replaced and $8 for heel taps - if you do it together, the heel taps are only $5 to replace. i plan on going up there and trying them out. There's NO WHERE i can find in San Diego that does them (at least no where i'd trust) so for my Loubies ;) i'll make the trip!

I did hear that Margaret's Cleaners in La Jolla (coastal San Diego) exclusively goes through Factotum in OC so if you go there, drop off your shoes, they'll bring them to Factotum in OC to fix them - there's nothing on their site that mentions Louboutins though so idk if i'd risk that. I'd die if they came back with black soles LOL!!! Plus it would take days... I'd rather go in person and see the results at the location rather than risk picking them up through a third party (even though Margaret's is really well known and does have a great reputation) and then complain - too much hassle... but if anyone else has had good results from Margaret's Cleaners on Loubies (or Factotum for that matter) do tell!

Attached is a pic from a Yelp review of Culver Shoe Repair ..impressive!! :yahoo:

i just took 3 pairs of my brand new unworn CLs to get them vibrammed, i didn't wear them first becuz it actually costs more to get used ones vibrammed. I guess they might have to fix the bottom first, so it will be more work? but yeah, they will have to scrap down the red sole first before applying the vibrams. i'm now anxiously waiting to get them back! btw, i went to Rago Brothers in NJ.

fortunas in Bethesda, MD does a fab job and has some many choices of colors! 3 shades of red, black, brown, several shades of tan, silver, gold, white and occasionally they can get a gray.
I am putting this great protective sole on my Jimmy Choos and all my designer shoes--not just the CL's
They also put a clear finish on the sole of one pair that CL himself autographed for me--to keep it from getting ruined!

A Q for all you UK ladies please - has anyone used the cobbler at lakeside (thurrock) he said he has red vibram soles like "skin" (i am assuming he means thin) or the one in bluewater. if not can you recomend anyone near me in Kent please?

just got my 3 pairs of CLs & 1 pair of monolos back from Rago Brothers today, i'm very satisfied with the results! they were $35/pair to get them viabramed. the color matched pretty well. i wore one pair out for a few hours today, and nothing happened to the bottom, they still looked brand new. (usually my non vibrammed ones' red soles will get scratched very fast) i will definitely recommend them for your CLs.

Hi ladies,

I got the heel of one of my CLs caught in a sidewalk and it broke in half. Can someone recommend a place that might be able to repair this? I unfortunately live in a rural city with no reputable cobblers. I tried searching this thread, but didn't see anything on broken heels. Any help will be sincerely appreciated. Thank you =)

Pyari, have you considered sending to CMM in Paris? It's 45 euros to change both heels.

so here are some pictures of the heel backing arturo did for me... looks better in person... and also this is my little "Ritchie" ;)

Hello all =).

I'm taking a trip to LA soon and needed to fix a few pairs of shoes. I just Yelped Pasquale's and Arturo's. I was wondering if any of you have been to either recently and how was your experience? Does anyone know if Pasquale's will do what Arturo's did for xtweetie3x?

I took my Declics to Arty's in NYC before and they were a BIG disappointment! I asked if they could fix slippage. They opened a package of pads and asked me to try it on with pads (without actually peeling the adhesive). I asked if they had another more permanent alternative. He asked me if it fit. I said yes. He took my shoe and STUCK the pad on before I could say anything. And then they asked me if I wanted to put vibrams on. Needless to say.. I said no. Those pads were a pain to remove and the inside of my shoe has never looked the same (wrinkled).

There was a woman from Australia standing behind me and telling me how surprised she was that no shoe repair in NYC tries to fix the shoe without using pads.

Sorry to hear about Arty's. Pasquale's is highly recommended as the place for CLs. I don't know about Arturo's, though.
