Alphapois losange mousseline, medium model 114x48cm, c/w Bleu moyen/Bleu roy. SS 2019
There will probably not be any pulled threads or snags in this fabric. The weave is thin, tight, strong, still light. The weight is 6g (0,21oz), which is the same as for a 45cm mousseline gavroche.
The fabric has a shimmering lustre.
I like very much this type of chiffon/mousseline. It differs from the mousselines I am familiar with, which are 140cm and 45cm.
Posting pictures with some ways of wearing this chiffong, perfect for summer.

Thank you for your comments on this one and styling examples! I bought it online without realizing it was a mousseline and am so worried about snagging it. Also, do you hand wash yours?

Wow! Such a versatile mousseline! Congratulations on a beautiful scarf!:flowers:
Thank you Julide. It is a tiny easy-to-wear summer-scarf and I love the colour!
Just wonderful Holsby...I have this one in red and love it, especially in the summer months. Enjoy!
Bova, I have seen your pictures! The red is amazing on you!
Beautiful and congrats Holsby! I'm still on the fence on this one. It rally seems like a semi changeant in some of your pics. There's a blue glow hovering in the folds in some of the pics that you normally don't see in regular chiffon.
Thank you bunnycat! The fabric is the thinnest I have ever felt! Perhaps the changeant effect couldn't be more visible than this in such a thin fabric? Would be interesting to know of your impressions if/when you get this scarf!

tarheelap welcome to the club together with @Bova123 and me! Would like to see a picture when you are ready!
Concerning handwashing - I got this scarf recently and haven't worn it much yet, so no need for washing. After use I shake it and stroke the surface with the back of my hand.
I think the quality of this fabric, as I described it earlier, will resist filth more easily than an ordinary mousse - my guess without knowing!
Maybe @Bova123, who has this scarf in a wonderful red, or @bunnycat, @katekluet or someone else with experience of changeants have something to say about washing this fabric?

I also have not had the need to wash mine yet...but I will say in general I find the few moussies that I do have are very forgiving in terms of wear and tear. As an aside, I have also been using this moussie losange as a belt this summer!

Hmmm- what I am beginning to think on this blue one is that it is a semi changeant and that is why is it not terribly noticeable. But it does have that unmistakeable "glow" on the curves of the folds in some pics. There are some changeants where the color change is only every other thread (People du Vent in the hot pink has orange and pink alternating threads) and only in one direction. It could also be that the dark blue goes one direction and then the other color is so close that it just doesn't scream out at you.

Washing this small a scarf ought not be a problem. And as you and Bova say, mouses really do tend to be pretty hardy overall. I have washed most of my large scarves by now, and not had any major issues. It's just A LOT of fabric to iron in a really short period of time. I keep a water spritzer handy in case something dries before I get to it.

I also have not had the need to wash mine yet...but I will say in general I find the few moussies that I do have are very forgiving in terms of wear and tear. As an aside, I have also been using this moussie losange as a belt this summer!

A belt is a great use!

Thanks for sharing your thoughts! I will visit the optician today and scrutinize the fabric through her loupe! Could it be the shining silk thread in itself that makes this effect?

Possibly, but because of the "sheen" on all the others areas, I am thinking not likely. I'll be excited to hear back from you!

Sometimes it is very easy to see in an up close pic and sometimes it is still kind of hard- like this Peuple du Vent. See how one thread is orange and one is pink, and its only in the one direction, so it is more of a "semi" changeant and you only get some residual glow. Crossways is all pink.

As opposed to La Rosee which is all pink one direction and all blue the other.

Result of my scrutinizing at the optician today:
It is a plain weave with one thread in each direction. One direction all white, the other direction all blue. The weave in the red seam was harder to determine due to the tiny space.

Here are closeups of the weave and the seam. The blue threads are shimmering, the white are not.

I was right! It is a changeant then. It is the fact that there are 2 different color threads that make it changeant. :) Super duper!

:hugs: (call me silk nerd...)

Yes- you caught it very well here. That blue shimmer in the folds that actually should be a shadow if it was a normal silk, is the changeant effect and shows as a "glow" where there should no glow....if you take a regular blue chiffon and set it up in the same light situation, that won' t happen.

The hem is overdyed- so you probably won't see the effect there at all because of the strong dye on the hem. The changeant effect is part of the weave structure and not a surface application. :)
