 I may “need” one of these soon!!:amuse:
Julide, yes you probably may! It is an interesting, very tiny little scarf that I haven't met before! At first I was disappointed because there was so little fabric, but now I am overwhelmed by the fine work this scarf represents. First our friends the silkworms and then the weavers who can handle this intricate material so well.
I was right! It is a changeant then. It is the fact that there are 2 different color threads that make it changeant. Super duper!

Yes- you caught it very well here. That blue shimmer in the folds that actually should be a shadow if it was a normal silk, is the changeant effect and shows as a "glow" where there should no glow....if you take a regular blue chiffon and set it up in the same light situation, that won' t happen.
The hem is overdyed- so you probably won't see the effect there at all because of the strong dye on the hem. The changeant effect is part of the weave structure and not a surface application.
Thank you, dear bunnycat for your answers and sharing of your expertice! This is all very interesting and exciting! I have learnt something new by looking closely to my own scarf and to get response.

oh Holsby- you are continuing to tempt me with this one.... and Bova with the red one!

Thank you Julide. It is a tiny easy-to-wear summer-scarf and I love the colour!

Bova, I have seen your pictures! The red is amazing on you!

Thank you bunnycat! The fabric is the thinnest I have ever felt! Perhaps the changeant effect couldn't be more visible than this in such a thin fabric? Would be interesting to know of your impressions if/when you get this scarf!

tarheelap welcome to the club together with @Bova123 and me! Would like to see a picture when you are ready!
Concerning handwashing - I got this scarf recently and haven't worn it much yet, so no need for washing. After use I shake it and stroke the surface with the back of my hand.
I think the quality of this fabric, as I described it earlier, will resist filth more easily than an ordinary mousse - my guess without knowing!
Maybe @Bova123, who has this scarf in a wonderful red, or @bunnycat, @katekluet or someone else with experience of changeants have something to say about washing this fabric?
Holsby, I got this same scarf yesterday and I do think it is changeant....it’s really beautiful and a fun new shape to wear.

Possibly, but because of the "sheen" on all the others areas, I am thinking not likely. I'll be excited to hear back from you!

Sometimes it is very easy to see in an up close pic and sometimes it is still kind of hard- like this Peuple du Vent. See how one thread is orange and one is pink, and its only in the one direction, so it is more of a "semi" changeant and you only get some residual glow. Crossways is all pink.

As opposed to La Rosee which is all pink one direction and all blue the other.

Love the a explanation of changeant, I've a couple of recent acquisitions which I shall now analyse. I'll never give up searching for my perfect mousseline!

Ok, ok...here I am...with several mousseline indiscretions under my belt in the last few months (and then I'll head over to the CSGM thread...oh lawks a mercy... I have been very very bad...) In my defence, I did end up rehoming a couple of mousselines, with a couple more to go now that I know I will now longer reach since I found one that I was searching for for a few years.

First up (yes...there are 3 incoming here...) is my seemingly ending quest for changeant mousselines....I'd been looking for a dramatic blue undertone for some time. I know I prefer the large 140 squares after several tries with the stole format.

Meet Mosaïque au 24 in Sable/Azur. It is FRUSTRATINGLY hard to photograph, but the blue is like electric blue fire racing across bronze/gold sands.

And some mods shots that make it look moody but it really isn't...

I love mousselines in earthy tones , especially when there's an illuminating changeant , beautiful.
