Yaaas! But never underestimate those changeants. They are astounding! If I didn't already have a green to purple, I might hunt down a gold to green or blue to brown changeant....You often have to see them in person to really get the feel for them.
I have a question, please excuse if it’s a dumb one, but how do you know if a scarf is a changeant? Is there something to look for in the description or is there a list somewhere so I’d know which to look out for? I am intrigued by them, and it’s all your fault Bunny that I’ll have to hunt one down now!! :P

I hope bunnycat doesn't mind me answering whilst I have time.

If you look back on this thread you will see where @calexandre has written about them and show close-ups.

There are two contrasting colours used, the warp (up and down) and the weft (across). The more pronounced the the colour contrast between the 2 the stronger the changeant (changing). Silk has a natural sheen anyway so the change between the 2 colours seems to flow.

The pros are that you get beautiful colour(s) but the con can be that you may lose the clarity of the design

Yep- well said papertiger. That does tend to be the downside with the changeants. They do tend to have less distinct design detailing (kind of like DD's in that respect...) There are a few like some of the colorways of the Coup de Fouet from a few years back that managed to have strong color change and pretty good design detail. But the color changes!!! That often makes up for it!

Ah, thank you, always interesting to learn more, I will work through this thread. Those clever creative people at H! Are they still available in stores or will I have to rely on used? Will it be apparent from the description or are there clues to look for? I have never seen one IRL in a store and I’m keen to learn about them, it just adds to the thrill of the chase

I think the last time a changeant was issued was around 2015. I think some of the Faune Lettre were changeant, iirc. And since the 140's with designs are going away, you'll need to look at preloved. They did do some plain changeants (no pattern) some years ago and I think they were called Grafisme. Maybe they'll do something like that again?

@calexandre's post is #6994.
@bunnycat's post with the closeups of the weave are #6997

Sadly, all moussies have been rested for SS19 (although there could be a few in draws). Changeant are at the moment preloved only by the pre-loved route as H hasn't done them for a while.

Thanks BC, I think I prefer the sound of plain, esp with PT’s comment that the design get be lost/muted. I’ll be patient and one day the right one for me will appear...

I’ve been collecting since before 2015 so I don’t know how I’ve missed them in store, but there again I’ve almost exclusively bought 90 twills so perhaps that’s why I’ve never been offered them?

Not all the patterns will be lost in a changeant - my La Rosee is very much visible. I think that maybe with the darker changeant - like @bunnycat's gorgeous, smokey LR - the pattern might be hidden a bit.
I had to ask to see the mousseline when I was in Paris, I don't know that my SA would have shown them to me if I hadn't asked. :hugs:

This is so true, I've never seen moussies on display. I've got a feeling H don't like too many people trying them on, then putting them back, customers who ask are more likely to be moussie veterans.

I think papertiger and Cookie are right that they probably don't "encourage" looking at them and people who ask already know what they are. They are a real b(ear) to put back in their boxes....They absolutely show up on evilbay (and there are several up right now, which I lust heavily after.... )

That's true too. Your La Rosee has much better detailing than mine. The roses definitely have a smokey look (but that's a good thing because otherwise they would have been bright yellow!) And I think your peach Quadrige is a changeant (It's Poudre Irise so it should be) and my Axis Mundi is (but barely there) and the details show up great on those.

Yeah- I bet you are right about this....I had to ask for them in Dallas.

And how wonderful wearing it immediately in such beautiful surroundings!

Beautiful scarf and location Serva! Congrats again! You're so lucky to find one of those!

Congratulations, Serva! Moussies are so ethereal. Just divine. Which design did you purchase? Is it a Della?

It was Dans un Jardin Anglais in the blue purple colorway... :faint: So lucky!!!!

Thank you dear scarfies, had to share my moussie immediately after purchase even if the sky here in Dubai was already turning to dusk and my white linen outfit for the day was all wrinkled...

Thank you bunnycat for answering seasound and thank you everyone for the likes. I cannot believe I was so afraid to buy a Tapis Persanes in Paris when it was released, thinking I cannot handle it and only when I realised Hermès is resting my favourite size I had to react. Now I’m looking for more but only if they are perfect for me [emoji3]
