Hello Hermes experts,

I will be in Chicago this weekend, and was wondering WHICH if any major Dept. Stores carry Hermes, or if there is an actual H boutique there.

I was wondering how available is the EVEYLYNE GM 2 ? Is it an item I could find at one of the stores and purchase off the shelf, or is it special order also? I would also appreciate knowing it's retail price.

Thanks everyone for all your help !!!!

I hope I can find one!

Hello!!! When you call the Chicago H, ask for Audra Andrews. She was the SA who helped with my initial purchase of a Ulysses PM in Curry. Wonderful and very helpful! Good luck with your search!

In late November I have a work trip up to a town outside Chicago for a couple of weeks. I need some sensible advice:

1. I hate cold. Really do. I'd struggle with anything below 59 farenheit and start trembling like a shaking leaf. Was told Chicago is not windy city for nothing, how cold does it get from late Nov - mid Dec?

2. Directions to the H store in Chicago. If I'm going to be like a shaking leaf I figured might as well make my time worthwhile at the H store.

3. any recommendations for sights or events worth visiting? I have a weekend free and thought it would be a good idea to spend it in Chicago, there's a train from the town where I work.

and lastly...if anyone spots an eskimo-like person over there, that's probably me. All bundled up like a fat dumpling. I'm from Singapore and have lived in warm heat all my life. My american colleagues sympathetically patted me on the shoulder, "you're gonna freeze your butt off". :p

any advice or suggestions would be most helpful!

Hi Jadeite,

1. It will be freezing in Chicago during November/December. I recommend dressing warmly indeed if you are out and about. If you are staying in the downtown area for the weekend, you may want to take a taxi to H as it will be cold and also no good parking around.

2. The H is located at the end of "Chicago's Magnificent Mile" past all of the shopping, nearly all the way to the water. Address is 110 E Oak St. Walk north to the end of Michigan Ave, turn left on Oak street, it's on the north side of the street.

3. Most of the things I love about Chicago are architecture, last time I was there we went on a walking tour. It was great to see all the buildings with my DH (an architect). But I'm not sure that is what you'll want to do in November! The windows may be decorated for Christmas, depending on when you'll be there.

Charlie Trotter's is supposed to be THE place to eat. I'm a vegetarian, so those kind of places aren't worth it for me. Reservations are said to be needed about 3 months out, but you can try!

The only thing I can recommend in Chicago is good pizza. The original Uno's is downtown, as is Due's. There's also another famous place called Gino's East pizza on Superior Street. Sorry, I lived there so long ago, "I'm out of the loop"....Get it!!!!!!!

I grew up in Chicago and was back a week ago. If you find a well-located hotel you will not need a taxi to Hermes. At the top of the budget ladder you have the Four Seasons, but personally I like to go cheaper. Just stayed at the Raffaello (sp?) last week. It was a block of Michigan Avenue and just a few blocks from H. Got a last-minute AAA rate of $125 a night. Another in the neighborhood is the Whitehall, but there is some construction going on.

Lots of great food in the area (not a big fan of Unos) and lots of culture (great museums). But just a stroll down Michigan can be a great pleasure. If "late November" means post-Thanksgiving, you will find tons of great sales and pretty holiday lights. Really, not a bad time to go.

Of course you will freeze your rear off, but that is part of the charm.
