I'd say France it's cheaper after the VAT refund and currency conversion, as Euro dollar was weak before.
Months ago, i had my friend bought me a Hampstead MM in Paris, it's almost 1000 cheaper after the currency conversion. It's really a great deal :)

Holy moley...this is why I want to go to Paris! To raid the LV store!

Oh, regarding Vietnam from someone who was asking about it. A friend was there several months ago and the prices there are 20-30% higher vs. US pricing.

hi, just came back fr europe tour last month. its cheaper to buy lv in france. but buy in champ elysees to get 12%. we travel in a package tour and they brought us to galleries lafayette which gave us only 10% (i think w commission). other euro union countries are slightly more expensive but you get the correct tax refund. i know its slightly off topic but my mom and i bought rolex at bucherer in lucern, and imagine our dismay , that its way way higher than italy. we asked the SA in a rolex store in downtown rome. and after all the computation, its cheaper by 600euro (net tax off) for a 8000+watch. the SA said that there is a gradation of % tax refund. less than 3000euro in a single store is 12%. 3-5,000 euro is 13%, 5-8000 is 14% and the max is 14.5% for more than 8000 euro. and she says that its applicable to the whole european union. can somebody confirm that?
oh by the way, i also noted that in lafayette, they dont want to issue invoice more than 3k in one receipt (maybe because of the bracket rule) i dont know if it will be more than 12% in the flagship store based on the bracket rule.

Hi ladies

Any idea whether there's a limit impose on tourist in Paris? Some of my friends said 5 pcs/passport ie 3 small and 2 big items, and others said 1 big & 1 small. They travelled in different time period.

I wonder any of the above still holds true, please advise.

Thanks!

i think its the total amount. coz my mom bought 2 bags 1 wallet and a keychain. and i bought 3 bags, one keychain and a bandouliere. but the SA said the amount should be less than 3000 euro per receipt. the total amount is almost 10k and the receipt was split into 3.

Retail prices are definitely cheaper in France than anywhere else. But does anyone know the effect after the VAT tax refunds? I've heard friends say that sometimes UK might be cheaper as they refund a higher % of tax when you leave the country.. Can anyone verify how much tax is refunded if say u buy from London vs Paris?

a friend told me the tax refund in Harrods is bigger than that on the LV store in London. i bought only a few things (<500pds)there and they gave me 11% refund. but the one processing my papers in harrods told me that it could go higher depending on the amount purchased. i have checked the price there and its more expensive. definitely more than 1%, so its really cheaper in france. maybe the trick there should be, if you are travelling in a group, to pay using one name and avail of a higher % refund. (i think:p)

Hi Sana168

Only can claim 12%? I read from internet that the VAT is 19.6%? No? Please enlighten me on VAT rate in France as I am asking my SIL to assist with some purchases so would like to do my sums first. Thank you.

Global blue-the company facilitating the tax refund gets the cut. as i have said previously, i think the refund is based on price bracket. as an example, i bought a prada in italy (<3keuro) and the tax refund is 12%. i ask my brother to buy 2 chanel 2 yrs ago (3k+) and he got 13%. so based on what the rolex SA said, then its correct. the SA even showed me a table for the % refund.
all being said, its really not that big a difference where you buy, whether in paris, london or milan. it will definitely be cheaper than HK, USA or wherever you are.;)
