I don't understand this hiding serial number practice by sellers. I asked another seller to post the serial numbers and he/she said "we don't give out serial numbers" 🙄

You don't understand because there's nothing to understand. They're pretending to have some special knowledge about the workings of those numbers but obscuring them is proof that they don't.
