Hi everyone!

Does anyone think this bag could be repaired? I LOVE this weekender in black suede, but the damage seems localized to one corner…any thoughts would be appreciated

Looks like someone already (sloppily) sewed a bit of the rip; as for the ragged edges I read online a bit of leather glue and then press down the little pieces with a toothpick. Hopefully that will cover most of the damage?
(And I suppose if you're extra ambitious/OCD you can dab a bit of black dye on the gray bits to disguise if there's any suede that couldn't be glued back down? Keep in mind the most "repair" work I've done is glue some split tassels, so my advice is far from gospel!)

I’ve seen YouTube “how-to’s” using various leather patch products that seem to do a decent job. Some of them include in their kit, pieces of thin leather for patching. None would be providing the suede you’d need for this. I’m guessing if you are determined to try to salvage this bag, you’d need to find similar material to create a large enough patch. Perhaps from a hidden place on the bag? Sadly, at best, I don’t think the result will be unnoticeable. But if you love the bag enough, it might not matter. Good luck with your decision.

Think outside the box…embroidery?
This is actually a good idea! I am very "torn" on this bag, literally and figuratively lol. I have seen it pop up for sale in the work model, but never the weekender. I have actually never sewn anything in my life...I think this one might be a pass for me, but I appreciate everyone's input 🤗

A patch would work too, like a band patch, art, something like that. A cobbler would be able to sew that on for you.

No mention of a mirror
“insignificant marks inside”???

Monk multi zip First in FAIR condition with no strap or mirror, missing tassels?

Ridiculous prices
The Balenciaga markets gonna crash soon and it’ll be 2020 all over again

Well there is an offer on that 03 .. lovely bag but I would have thought the 03 Emerald world have gone by now at a very reasonable price from one of our own.

She'll likely come to get senses if she gets flooded with reasonable offers.
It's s beautiful bag and if I weren't saving up for another is be tempted... but only if I could grab the emerald too. That's a real gem.

I hope it doesn't crash again. As a buyer is one thing...but it does none of us any good if our rare jewels don't get something close to what they are worth and I world argue they are worth these types of prices in great condition. They are just so damn rare and
Compared to the plasticy over coated over produced stuff they have out in droves... it would be good to see them hold their value.

Did the 03 lilac city sell? I'm tried to look.. I'll try again. What a bag!

Wow..that 03 black city sold at $1700.
Eek! So much for overpriced.

Sorry, but thats nuts
I suppose if you have money to burn, but if you didn't pay $1700 for it 20 years ago why on earth would you spend $1700 on it today?
Thats why sites like TRR are selling heavily worn bags in Fair condition with no straps for more than $1k :whut:

I would like to argue that newer bags today cost over $2000 easily and the quality of 20 year old bags are way better. So for $1700 if it's in very good condition or better is a bargain.

And vintage is somewhat of a flex these days.

Totally agree but some of these are appreciating in value... which they should considering rarity, popularity scarcity and the poverty produced bags they do now. And they should.

But true most don't have that kind of money to do that. And it may well sent the other way again. TRR is shady.. I don't want to insult anyone but then not showing tags if ridiculous and pointless

Agree wholeheartedly with this sentiment. Just like beauty, worth is in the eye of the beholder. There are $5000 bags circulating that I’d not want for free, and I would happily pay double the original retail price for a rare and perfect 20 year old Bal I’ve been searching for for years. To me they are pieces of Art, capable of eliciting emotion like no other possession.

Also, inflation!

If I'm paying $6/dozen eggs today, then $1.5k for a City that cost ~$1095 21 years ago almost seems like a bargain! :noggin: (That might read sarcastic, but I meant it relatively seriously, lololol)

I'm definitely guilty of buying bags (and eggs, haha) at these "new" prices because 21 years ago, I didn't have the budget for it - but I'm totally cool with it, if the condition passes whatever standards I may have (it's clearly debatable if I have any), since I see emotional value in it.

The greater cause of annoyance imo, is TRR pricing which has definitely gone through the charts, since I last made the "y'all, TRR's pricing has always been weird!" post.

... like, their pricing algorithm is a bit of a not so good joke and should really have some human reviewing it, because $1k for the Monk Multi-Zip that's missing two tassels, strap, and no mention of mirror is kinda quite high unless you're an avid collector and it's an HG, imho... but I guess on the other hand, other than the missing tassels and strap, it's in pretty good condition and the handles look like the edgepaint is still intact... - dang, why do I always start things wanting to find flaws and then end up selling myself that something isn't that bad?! LOL :noggin:

I came rather late to Balenciaga (just over a decade ago) and the prices now for coveted bags are somewhat higher than they were back then, but not unreasonably so.
We were fortunate to have had several years where the prices dipped and we all purchased like mad. The cycle has shifted back and the prices for desirable vintage bags in great condition aren’t out of line IMO.
Having said that, I just saw a Hip for $2800 CDN. Come ON people!

You all keep saying “in great condition” “very good condition or better” - and thats my point. Neither of the bags I referred to above are in great condition. $1700 for a Back First with no mirror & “insignificant marks inside” (which they didn’t even bother to show) is just insane
