Admittedly, I purchased these over a year ago from Harrods, and have yet to wear them out because... wfh / rainy London and also... they're so pretty. However, I am planning to give it life this spring / summer!

These are a seasonal "light brown" colour which I believe was exclusive to Harrods. The other London boutiques did not stock them and SAs were not aware of its existence. Harrods did not carry the 40 but only a 40C - which is what I got. Now, I'm glad my standard size was not available to me otherwise I would have bought the 40. I have slim feet, but I do have bunions as punishment from wearing pointy heels and boots (with zero breathing space) throughout my teen years and adult life! The "C" in this shoe I am hoping will work out for me, as it should have a little more wriggle room? I wonder if it equates to a 40.5? They're very small and dainty on the toe.

@BigAkoya you may remember the sizing epiphany I had over my 101801 coat in the MaxMara thread... well, here I am again! Your shoe size guide above is once again exactly what I was looking for! What I know for a fact is that in boots we should always go at least half a size or even a full size up to protect our feet! But I still struggle with purchasing slingback and kitten heels. I never know if I should got for half size up or not!

I also do not like the look of the heel hanging even slightly at the back of a heel. Some SAs encourage to go for your perfect fit without ever considering that in the summer our feet expands... a lot. Some still say "get your usual size as the leather will stretch". The Harrods Chanel SA was the first one to tell me that this is bad advice, that we need to get what's comfortable, as leather stretching is a sign that your feet have pushed too far. A slight stretch is fine, normal and expected. But half a size worth of give... and it's not good for our feet. At that point, I hadn't even considered a 40.5 but if I get another pair of these slingbacks, I might go for 40.5.

Once I've had wear out of these heels I will come back to this post and confirm if it's comfortable in the 40C!

Hi! I sure do remember the 101801! That was a fun thread as we were splitting hairs on coat fit!

I completely agree with you on shoe fit, and your Harrod's SA on shoes stretching out is spot on.

A "C" is for the width of the shoe (B is standard), and often, the difference is in the toebox and wide part of the foot, where the bunion is! I think you will like the C width for more comfort. C is rare, almost non-existent, in the US for a closed toe shoe such as a pump.
C is standard though for thong sandals as feet tend to "spread" when walking with thong sandals. I think nearly all my thong sandals are C width which I appreciate.

Since we are talking about widths and sizes...
I thought it might be fun and interesting to share how to read a shoe box in case you or others might be interested.
I got started on this because I have to order all my shoes as none of the dept stores near me carry Chanel shoes.
I am also super picky about heel height, and my max heel height is 85mm, not 90mm.
A few times, the SA would say "3 inches" but the height actually turned out to be 90mm (3.5"). It's doesn't seem like a lot of difference, but 90mm heels kill my feet and squishes my toes, so I can't deal with them. That's when I started asking my SA to verify the actual heel height from the box before he sent them to me.

That was a few years ago when I still wore high heels to work! Now, the slingback height of 65mm is my max height!:heart:

Below is the shoe box to my denim Chanel ballets.
To the left, above the photo of the shoe is "38" for my size, size 38.
To the right is "23P" for 2023, Spring (P=Printemps, which is Spring in French)
Underneath is the style code "G02819..."

Then, do you see the little "10B?" That stands for heel height and shoe width.
The "10" is the heel height in mm. In the case of ballets, it is a 10mm heel.
The "B" is the width, as in B width.

Slingbacks have a 65mm heel, so the number on your box would be 65C, for 65mm heel height, C width.
The second photo is my shoe box to my beige slingbacks. Wow... I just realized I got them so long ago!
It says REV instead of the year/season (e.g. 23P) because the beige/black cap toe are classic, revolving stock.
You can also see the “65B” on my box for 65mm heel height and B width.

Hope that was interesting and fun!

On your gorgeous slingbacks.. yes, take them out!
For your test run... go to Harrods! Take Uber (or Gett) to Harrods, walk around and shop, then have lunch at one of their restaurants (or coffee/tea at The Coffee Bar) and people watch! It will be so much fun.

Gorgeous! I tried these on but went with the white/pink/blue and the blue/white flats. The sparkly ones are also on my list. Ugh love them all.View attachment 5738328View attachment 5738329

The addiction is real! I got the 23C White pink blue tweed In the flat and also the blue/white
The glitter ones I bought the silver/black and then the all black then drove myself crazy as I felt I needed to complete the set and get the champagne/black!

There is also a beautiful pink tweed I will attach a pic which matches one of the runway looks. Obsessed with this pink …I got the jacket, the shoes and the mini flap with the charms. Photos don’t do this tweed justice!

They are gorgeous! I love this pink; it's such a bright happy pure pink! Not too much blue.
The white, pink, blue tweed is beautiful!

Congratulations on your new pieces!

You are a GURU!! That was most certainly an education for me and indeed I found it very fun and interesting! Thank you so much for taking the time to write as you did. It's so amazing on here, with experts like yourself, I've learned more from you than from being in a shop - this is why I love TPF!

The funny thing is, I wasn't aware that I had purchased a "C", I only realised when I got home and then threw a bit of a tantrum over WhatsApp texting my SA. I wasn't well versed in Chanel sizing and he never told me prior, so I asked to exchange for a 40 with the classic yellow to which he agreed. Because in my head I was so fixated with what I knew to be my size. But I loved the colour of mine so much that I never got round to exchanging. I'm now so glad that I kept my 40C!!

I just remembered that it was my lovely Aquazzura SA who gave me the tip about never "stretching out" shoes and to go with what's most comfortable. So props to him! X

Does anyone have experience with patent slides? These were a bit of an unplanned spend but I love them. Is there any concern with the patent getting sticky for example, and what do you think of the gold heel? I prefer understated, and want to be able to walk around the city and enjoy them. I have to justify the spend so I don’t want to take any risk if these materials aren’t the right move.

The mesh cc slides I retuned them for due to size issues were cheaper, simple for frequent wear, but when I tried them on for her to compare to the patent SA had a good comment - she said with those she “sees my foot before she sees the shoe”, which means less flattering IMO.

Any experience or concern with the durability of the gold heel, patent?

Super cute, but definitely not understated. The gold and shiny patent are flashy. What was the price difference?
As for the gold heel, I passed on the Mary Jane style because I didn’t think I could maintain them. I am a bull in a China shop.If you are gentle and lady-like, no problem.

Price difference of $300. $1100 I think. A new record for me, that’s why I’m feeling a bit guilty doing it on a whim. Definitely have no idea how this gold will hold up

Hi! I have had patent slides and wore them to death. They were also white patent too.
No issues at all, and they did not get sticky. I finally tossed them because the sole got very worn, but the shoe itself looked great.

I have also had gold heels (different shoe than my white patent slides). They were pumps, and I also did not have any issue. The heel was a thin heel, and I did scuff the heel walking through a sidewalk crack in the city (classic move! ). I just had it repaired, and it looked fine. Your heel will not fall into a sidewalk crack for sure!

My thoughts on the slide...
I love the style, I love the functional twist-lock, I love the quilting.
I especially love the tubular edge around the outer edge of the shoe. I have a white slide from last season that has a similar tubular outer edge, and I love that look! I think it helps frame the toes nicely. The gold heel is so minor, and while I do not love it, it is a neutral feature to me and would not be a deal breaker.

The one thing I do not love is the black patent. For me, I find black patent hard to wear as a summer sandal, especially a wide band slide. I find it a bit harsh looking. Ask yourself if this was a no-name black patent slide (no CC logo), would you buy it and what outfits would you wear with it?

If you love black patent in the summer, I vote yes, keep the shoe!
If you don't love black patent in the summer, I would get it in another color. This style is very nice.

On price, it's the new normal, just like $4.00 sodas, so yes, this is 100% justified!
Chanel shoes can look on trend for many seasons, and some styles are in fashion as long as the shoe itself can lasts.

You may want to ask yourself if you will get sick of the black patent after a season. If not, $1100 is truly the new normal, so keep it.

Hope that helps in your decision. Good luck!
