So happy I finally get to join the club here. Previously my only pair of Chanels is my over 10 year old pair of black ballerinas. Contacted my SA in HI when I saw these on the website, and I’m thrilled with them.
Generally I’m not a sling back girl as they always fall off my heel, but these actually stay up. These are 37.5. I debated exchanging for a 38 but I think with any stretching of the front they’d then end up too big.

ETA 37.5 is my usual shoe size. My Chanel ballerinas are 38 but they are shorter end to end than these.

Can’t wait for spring to wear them!

I would not risk it. I am not a fan of buying shoes too small. I've bought shoes too small, and I rarely ended up wearing them. Big mistake and a waste of money. If it's just a tiny tiny tiny bit too small, it's fine, but not if it's a half size too small (your feet will know the difference). Maybe first do the sock stretch procedure If it's still too small, I would for sure get the next size up.

If it's just the straps being too loose on the next size up, it's an easy fix.
You can get the size that fits and have your cobbler shorten the straps a tiny tiny bit. Be sure not to let the cobbler decide (I did that once... he made it too tight). You need to tell him exactly how much you want it shortened or you and him work together very detailed to get it perfect. This is it ends up at the tension you like. I like my tension still loose, not tight, as long as it doesn't fall off. Too tight, and you get red lines/blisters in the back of your foot.

Good luck!

Hi,

Thank you for your advice. I actually tried them again and they fit just right. Not small at all. I thought they were from what it looked like looking down but when I tried them on again in front of the mirror they fit the same as my slingbacks. I also didn’t put my feet all the way in when I first tried them on because they were so uncomfortable hence why I thought they were small.

Could you guys advise on the difference between size 36 and 36.5 in slingbacks? Size 36 fits me perfectly - but the diamanté shoes would be on waitlist and only available in 36.5. Would it be the shoe width that was different rather than the length ( I say this as in Hermes shoes that’s how it works)

I just got the same pair as you. I have the same exact color combo in the heel version and love them so much that I wanted it in the flat version to wear more often. I also got my usual size and it fits the same way as yours

So what do you think? @BigAkoya should I stick to my usual size or exchange?

I have a classic version with a heel and yesterday I went to try on the flat one. My issue with flat slingbacks is if I size down, then the strap fits, but the shoe is small. If I get my size, then the strap feels a bit loose and I think will get looser over time. Another thing, having flat feet myself, somehow I find the flat version a bit uncomfortable. The heel one is great, but the flat one whenever I try it on, it feels weird on me

If they don't feel great, I agree with you, just skip.
The shoe in your photo looks small to me. Your heel is hanging over the left shoe, and it will hang more as you walk, due to our natural stride. Just a thought and observation in case you are still deciding.
I would get the length that fits and you can always have a cobbler shorten the straps.

A 36.5 will be longer in length than a 36 for sure. If a 36 fits you perfectly, the 36.5 will have more room in the back.
For a slingback, it's not the end of the world because it is an open heel. The width will be slightly wider too, so that is the bigger worry versus the length.

Are you in the US? I am not sure which diamante shoes you want, but my NM SA might be able to get them for you. He is taking pre-orders now for Spring Act II, so let me know. I'm happy to help if I can.

Hi! I am definitely not a shoe expert, but I am happy to share my experiences (and I have made some bad sizing decisions that I have learned from).

I have the heeled slingbacks too, and I love them. I wear a size 38 in both the Chanel ballets and the slingbacks.

Flat slingbacks are a bit different because the reality is, they are like a slipper, so one walks differently in a flat slipper that has no back vs. a heeled slingback. With a heeled slingback, the toe is compressed and the foot is pushing into the shoe due to gravity because of the heel.

With the flat slingback, you are literally wearing a slipper with a tiny strap in the back. This means the toes spread out more when walking, and the toe does not "push" into the front as much given there is no gravity to push it in. Hence, there is more room in the shoe toe when walking.

Because of the above, it also means that if a flat "slipper" slingback is too small, the foot heel can hang off over the shoe which is a bad look to me. I am sure you have seen people who wear flat slippers where their foot heel is hanging over the shoe as they walk... not a classy look.

For open-back shoes, a focal point is the heel, so when buying an open-back shoe, one needs to really look at the heels of the feet to ensure they fit properly and is not hanging off.

The strap should not be so tight that it is doing any work "pushing" the shoe in. That will just make the shoe uncomfortable and cause blisters if you wear it and walk alot. The strap is there to avoid the shoe from falling off given the slipper style.

All that said, when you trid them on, if you feel you had to push your toes up into the shoe so the heel doesn't hang, I think that's not a natural position, and the shoe is too small. Try the shoe again, walk around, to get your foot in a natural position in the shoe. You will notice you are walking with your toes more spread out, therefore, pushing the flats more out.

Then, look in the mirror, flatten your feet, and see if you heel is hanging over. You can also march in place (I have done that). If yes, it's too small. If it looks good, the shoe is a keeper!

To me, there is nothing worse than an open back shoe with one's heel hanging over. It completely takes all elegance away. That's just my opinion, and I am sure some people don't care which is ok. Shoe sizing and look is all preference.

For me, for piece of mind, I would order both sizes, try them on at home to compare. You should also try them on when your feet are tired and swollen. I do that a lot, especially with shoes that fit a bit odd such as the fuschia loafers I purchased earlier. It worked out great, and now, I know my exact size in that loafer style, so for the next pair I purchased in the same style, I just ordered my size.

By the way, for what it's worth, I have three heeled slingbacks. My most comfy is the classic beige/black toe. It's due to the soft leather. The other two slingbacks I have are calfskin, so it's a bit stiffer. I still wear the same size though.

I hope this was helpful. Good luck to you!

Thank you so much for your detailed response. I will try the shoes again and try your recommendation. I will also ask my SA if he has the next half size up.

I brought these today and so happy with them, first pair of sling backs.

I am hoping they will come with a nice summery colour soon too, I missed out on the blue pink and white combo!

Gorgeous! I tried these on but went with the white/pink/blue and the blue/white flats. The sparkly ones are also on my list. Ugh love them all.BDDE9059-8743-4E5A-A077-D236F25BD842.jpeg9ABF1966-FD55-409B-8830-9F2B717EFD98.jpeg
