Went in to try on the Sophia jacket again. Still debating. Are the shoulders too much? ..View attachment 3790727View attachment 3790728

Both jackets are great on you so it depends if you want a LBJ or a tweed one. The second one has a more casual vibe to it. The Sofia is not an easy fit on everyone and you pull it off. The shoulders do not appear big in the photos but you can always have the boutique switch them to the smaller padding.

I love both
If you go up the wardrobe area there is a thread on jackets
I tried on the second one today too View attachment 3790780View attachment 3790782View attachment 3790785View attachment 3790786

Finally tried this jacket (not in my size) but alas the metallic threads itches me badly especially at the back of the neck (even over my dress). Much as I like the look, it is a pass. Seems like it will be Hermes rtw for me this season.

I finally found some items that will work for me.. Sorry no photos. I find when I'm not sure I take more photos to try to convince myself. When I'm sure I just say yes.

I bought the black and beige plaid jacket from the cosmopolite collection. The one with the pleated back. I bought the one without the scarf which I felt I didn't need. I'm planning to wear it with my A- line black skirt, black pants, jeans or leather pants.

My store has racks and racks of the popular cosmopolite jackets available. They have one or two of each on the floor but many more in the back. So I think for those still looking there is an excellent chance to find things. My plaid jacket wasn't ordered as heavily so I was afraid to miss out on it.

As I mentioned I also bought the black and navy belted jacket. The belt loops are being lowered a bit to fit my torso and they offered to make the CC detachable for me so I can wear the jacket open with the belt tied or looped behind me if I want. They are looking for the matching skirt for me. I tried the skirt in the yellow and grey color. It's an odd fit so it might or might not work but I have about a 1,000 things in my closet already that will work with the jacket.

I also bought this dress in navy. It comes with a CC belt and they are doing the same thing to the belt. (I don't know who originally posted this photo.) It looks good with the belted jacket that I purchased or with a cashmere or silk large format shawl and can be worn belted or unbelted. It's mostly wool with a little bit of synthetic mixed in so it's not super heavy.

I'm still waiting for my coat to arrive which I'm told should be any day. And that's it for me for this year unless I find something unexpected in Paris in the fall.

There were also some very nice knits and blouses that I would consider on sale but not full price. I tried the white cotton ruffle neck blouse. It was pretty but a bit overwhelming unless I wear my hair up. Again, maybe a good sale item. Although every time I say that I find that by the time the sale rolls around I'm over the item.

Photos when I receive everything back from alterations. And now I'm officially ready for fall to start.

I will be sitting on the sideline shopping Chanel vicariously through all of you for this season. So more photos please. Other than the Larkie jacket, the rest are just too heavy for me.

They all seem to be altered because the sizing and/or fit is inconsistent. I have jackets ranging in 4 sizes in my closet! That is ridiculous! As a test I pulled out a bunch one day and used a tape measure on them and as I might have expected, the shoulder, bust and sleeve measurements were pretty consistent despite the different sizes on the label. So either they were born that way, or I made them that way! Plus, women spending this much on a garment are going to be picky about how it fits or the look they want to achieve. 95% of all my Chanel has been altered for one reason or another. It is rare that I buy and it fits right off the rack.
Perhaps the need to alter most things is a reason why RTW seems to have relatively poor resale value? In any event, why do you think Chanel would be so inconsistent with sizing across very similar garments?

It's itchy?! Oh no !! It looks good on you.

I feel like the jackets all have varying fits. Some are boxy and some are more fitted. For me the rate limiting factor is the shoulder fit. If the shoulders are generous and the fit is boxy I can go down to a 36 but if it's fitted like the plaid ritz jacket I need a 40. I can't explain it otherwise :)

Congratulations!! I love love love the navy and black jacket. I'm going on the hunt for it tomorrow. And that dress is beautiful.

I don't know why Chanel is fairly inconsistent, but it is. I think @pigleto described a common occurrence in sizing vis a vis style and that is why you really need to know your measurements if you are buying pre-owned and even then, you are at the mercy of the person doing the measuring. The resale price usually depends upon how popular or coveted a piece was in the first place. There are many 10+ year old jackets that are demanding a good price. Size is the other issue vis a vis price. Some sizes are in more demand than others and that too affects the price. . Chanel makes a lot of pieces that you never see on the runway and many times those can be picked up for a low price for the reasons stated above.

I am somewhat relieved to hear that the threads are itchy - I am very sensitive to fabrics as well - which means I will likely pass on this one. Phew!

What great responses, thank you! I still have so much to learn about Chanel RTW. Very glad to have you knowledgeable ladies to consult with!

This is far easier said than done and probably a big "no duh" but my biggest advice is try every piece and in different sizes if need be that you can and you'll get a sense of what works for you. And even then, sometimes you'll be surprised. Sometimes things look blah on the hanger but they look amazing on !

Pieces for resale are tricky that way and when you add in alterations it makes it even more tricksy!

It looks so good on you, and even quite cute with your printed dress, but comfort absolutely comes first. If it was not comfortable for you then you would never reach for it.

Ari this looks incredible on you! Very summery.
Baglover, thank you, just for the hot weather we are having right now!
Ari both dresses look so lovely on you!
Mrs.Z, thank you!
Beautiful !
Love both !
I tried the white dress and it looks so much better on you -
Nice additions to your wardrobe !
Thank you TT, it's a bit straight in the torso, I'm thinking of taking it in a bit to define the waist.
This Act 1 is a light easy to wear jacket .
The Cosmo jackets are more dramatic and detailed
Very different-for sure
Agreed!
How great to find such gorgeous Chanel dresses on sale that you can wear immediately. We're having a real fall weather here[emoji299]️, I need a jacket and a shawl in Paris.
Thank you PQP! I feel retarded, until I learn how to dress for the summer and the fall is behind the corner[emoji23][emoji23]
Great score! So pretty. I don't think my local boutique got the second one.
estallal, thank you, it is from pre spring 2016.
Both jackets look great on you. Not everyone can pull off the Sofia jacket. I think it looks particularly good on you.

Beautiful dresses Ari. I particularly like the black one.

Thank you PP!
