I’m the minority view on this thread in many I prefer taking out a 36. I think most here have opined that they prefer taking in a 38

I prefer to wear street clothes that is normally wear with a prospective purchase. Wearing the wrong things when I go shopping sometimes leads to mistakes for me
I hear you and really appreciate your input as always. I think the fact that I’m hesitating is sort of the answer in itself. I’m afraid that I won’t get a chance to wear it that often, as opposed to a cardigan, so not great for cost-per-wear. But it’s just soooo beautiful, like a piece of wearable art. I had another try-on anyway just to see..

I happen to think it’s fabulous on you. But, as @DoRaePEET said upthread, it also depends on how many black jackets are in your wardrobe already. I’d say, if you love it and can wear it instead of a cardigan some of the time, go for it. (I don’t however know the price which could well be a deal breaker). Otherwise pass. There will always be another black four pocket 😂

Thank you :) Not counting other brands, I only have one black and one navy, both 2-pocket, jackets. Other 4-pocket pieces I have are mostly cardigans. That said.. Logic doesn’t seem to work in this kind of art-related situation. Lol!

My general rule of thumb is that if it takes too much effort and I'm hesitating, then it's not the right piece for me. Esp. for a black jacket...they are available every season and the fit is always different...is there any downside to wait?

I was actually thinking about my own wardrobe...I have one black jacket from Chanel and I happened to buy it from TRR - and it fits me perfectly. The rest of the jackets are all classic in their own ways even though none is pure black. For a work appropriate black jacket, I have a wool/silk Bar jacket from Dior. I have quite a lot of occasions to wear black jackets but I actually change it up quite a lot. It's a long way to say that a classic jacket doesn't mean that it has to be black.

Thank you! That is so kind of you! Honestly, I'd say at least half the stuff I try on in Chanel RTW does not end up working for me. I tend to have a wide bust/wide shoulders and I'm 5'2 (no hips, straight torso) so I really don't know how things will look until I try them on.

I wish I could get the matching bag! I'm still debating the matching skirt.
It’s not just you! I am tall and narrow and some of it is uniformly terrible (even on the models). Do not disparities nor settle for something you don’t 100% love. I did and I regret it

I think it looks great on you💕. But I might be biased. lol. I bought the jacket myself even though I have many black jackets already. I think it’s classic and you can wear it casual and dressy. But I do need some opinions from your guys. Since we are talking about the narrower shoulders, I am second guessing myself if mine is small for my shoulders. I took a couple pictures for your insight. Please comment away. Thank you in advance.

I agree with letting out in certain circumstances. Going down a size or two and even three on one occasion (!) has happened for me. If the shoulders are a perfect fit for me, then I am willing to adjust the rest, which would be usually be the chest. A good tailor makes all the difference. One of my most loved jackets is a black and white small check from 2017. It has leather trim at the collar and bottom The shoulder was so perfect i was thrilled, but the bottom of the jacket was too snug if I wanted to close it up with the zipper. The tailor was actually able to let it out with no prior stitch marks showing due to the softness and pliability of the leather. I'm afraid that she retired when Covid hit as her own health history wasn't great and it was the wise choice for her.

I typically don’t share pics… but I love a good matchy match. Here are two of the items I purchased from the most recent launch… I opted not to get the matching dress… I am trying to avoid more suit sets I won’t wear. I also got some accessories and the sweatsuit set for ski season (look 46).

I think the black blazer is a forever piece. I do not think you’ll regret having this basic in your wardrobe—can be dressed up or down.

For the size, sometimes it is best to let out, sometimes best to take in. The seamstress will have the BEST answer. Chanel seamstress team are gold. Pls buy and enjoy in good health… we cannot take it with us. 💕

Congrats! I think it is a fun look to have the matching tweed bag and I did it myself a couple of months ago. I'm sure you have other things in the closet that you can wear it with as well. @ari did it with her red suit.

Beautiful set! I love grey tweed❤️

Bought this beautiful black jacket from the 2015 collection and the vintage store in Paris mentioned I could get the jacket adjusted to make it more comfortable so went to the Cambon store in Paris to drop it off. Also dropped an older one I got a while back to open it a bit as the arms are a bit tight.
Can’t wait to get them back and be ready for AW 😍

Thank you 😊 I think the shoulders look great!! (But then, I’m no expert on this subject) Did you get any alterations?
