Happy Halloween with my potion Bolide and very vintage jacket. The modeling pictire doesn’t do the tweed justice Great buttons Tortoise shell with camellia in the center. Also wearing one if my vintage brooches.
Gracekelly, I can’t believe this jacket looks like new, and it is so in style right now. This is what I love about a Chanel jacket - it never ages and looks current!
It is from Fall 1998 They weren’t quite so fancy back then to give the collections names, or I don’t remember. Lol!
It looks quite light maybe summer or cruise.
Thank you @skybluesky and thanks to all who enjoyed my post. TBH, I had not worn it in a very long time. Brown has been on the back burner in fashion and is currently doing rediscovered. I’m happy to pull all the brown bags, shoes and clothing out of the “vault.” Shopping in my closet fits in with sustainable fashion lol!

I have been collecting vintage brooches for a long time. They are a fun and inexpensive way to have fun with your clothing.
The brooch goes so well with the jacket!
I felt the same way about brown, just took out some old browns I haven’t worn in years.

Love, love, love this outfit! The tonal look is so on trend too! Your Kelly! Barenia? If so, bag twins!

The jacket label says says 1998A, but yes, it is very lightweight which is why I bought it. Perfect for this climate, yet brown tweed, for a Fall look.

Hamburg! Love the collection. Karl experimented with some colors...very interesting mix. Unusual but worked so well.

Thank you Gracekelly! Bag cousins ! Yes, my bag is Barenia, unfortunately not smooth but Faubourg . I love the smooth Barenia. I can not believe this jacket is 26 years old, so classic!
Ari you’ve got some serious style I love your posts
Thank you so much DLS! Too kind of you!

Yes, this collection was perfection, I was so privileged to see the show in Hamburg. This particular jacket is so simple, the fabric is a bit rough as something used in the past by workers, but still so special.

Want to get the forum’s opinion on this pink 13C coat, I love the color, but it feels a little snug at the armpit - is this an easy fix by Chanel? And overall is this a good piece to have?

And there some mild creasing from been folded in shipping, but should be easily smoothed out with proper hanging

TIA!!!
Very nice! This is the exact pale pink that is coming for Spring 2025. It can be fixed if you want it.

M J is the last person I want to see getting the job. He has never had an original idea in his life except to wear a kilt as a non-Scotsman

Except Jean-Paul Gautier did that first too :sunnies:

I wouldn't mind Gautier designing for Chanel

I don't hate MJ. I have a few MJ designed LV pieces they're very wearable. I would like to see someone who understands Chanel's archive, her subversion and her formulae. MJ just wants the job coz he's ambitious.

I think Karl was better at reinvention than invention, so nothing wrong with expressing the house DNA in a unique way rather than being (too) original. Karl did most things tongue in cheek at Chanel, even parody at times, but always with reverence. He could get serious when need be.

I fear Marc would not understand. His MJ ended-up as Bratz (dolls) do American preppy, and stick a frill on JIC.

VV tried to design 'young' which oddly came off frumpy. IMO, women of all ages want absolutely wearable, absolute beauty, absolute perfection from Chanel, able to add to their wardrobe year after year. If clothes don't work for all ages, they're not great clothes.

The Gabrielle Chanel Fashion Manifesto exhibition really opened my eyes to her championing of high Modernism whist paying close attention to the traditional exacting qualities of tailoring and dress-making. Everything was meticulous. Women could wear 80% of her couture 1920s-1971 from that exhibition and not appear to be wearing costume. I hope the designer does extraordinary detail rather than theatricality.
