Chanel RTW ~ Reveals, Chit-chat & Info thread

Unfortunately it is the way now with Chanel. I just started buying Chanel rtw the beginning of this year and have been going in the store so frequent to either pick up pieces from alternations or when they get new pieces in or to pick up pieces I pre-ordered. Everything is true what @jennyy says, based on my SA, the popular items were either pre-sold, preordered before they can hit the floor, I doubt they even have enough pieces to show for a trunk show! Often times my SA has to fight and to look for pieces for me to try on, if I hesitated not getting them on the spot, they are gone the next day or even the same day, she would email me immediately too if a popular piece has been returned and use my card on file to reserve it first, it happens all the time! During the launch date for Coco Neige and the new Cruise 22’ when I couldn’t make it to the store (besides the pieces pre-ordered), I have to reply on my SA’s messages to buy the piece with my card on file so I can hold it and when I go to the store to try on, if it doesn’t fit well, I will then return and get refund and there are usually people and SA waiting for the pieces to be returned so they can get their hands on it, so crazy!!

With the presale, when we picked out the pieces I’d like to buy, they will be on hold for me until it is approved by the management, if another VVVIP also likes the piece it will go to them depending on your and their spending history with the boutique . The only way you can guarantee to have a piece is to have your credit card on file or preordered and paid in full, it is charged and yours. Otherwise like bags, accessories works the same way, anything else on the floor is first come first served
You know, it hasn't been my experience yet. I noticed pieces "spoken for" but I normally just put my name down and wait for my pieces to arrive. I'm not a celebrity so I don't care if I'm not the first to wear a piece.
If they don't have I just move on.

I hate to use Balenciaga in ~'06 as an example again...we used to go to trunk shows in the boutique to try samples on. And if there were pieces we like, we just put in 50% deposit. We would pay the other half when the garments arrived. There were exclusive pieces we could only reserve in such a fashion, because the stores wouldn't buy them.

With the latest Miumiu collection I tried to do the same, and I was told that yup you could pay 50% deposit for a piece but nope there is nothing for you to see in person. Needless to say I didn't order anything, because how could I spend this kind of money without trying on first? Isn't it what "shopping" is all about?

If there are lurkers working in Chanel, please bring us trunk shows :flowers:

I have noticed that there are more limited sizes lately but other than that, I haven’t noticed a huge change. I just watch the show, put my name down for the store to order certain pieces, buy them when they come in. I used to get invited to trunk shows but since my sa left nyc for cali, she just mails me my orders when they arrive at the boutique.

Agreed. Bring back the trunk show or some kind of virtual presentation for pieces from the store buy. I'm mostly interested in non-runway pieces these days for a more relaxed lifestyle and often found those to be the most elusive ones since they are not shown on the runway

Has anyone tried on this coco neige black and white reversible jacket? does anyone know what the fit is like? is it too loud?

I can’t comment on fit, but I did return the hooded grey/black sweater with the same print. It was soft and cozy and totally an impulse buy. Personally, I prefer my luxury items to be low key. So for me, yes, it is too loud.

I don't know if any ladies here have mentioned about the recent policy change in RTW transfer between Chanel boutiques. I just want to share my experience from a month ago...
I was requesting to transfer & buy a Chanel jacket at my local Chanel boutique. It was a style that my local boutique did not order.
I was told by my SA that there was a recent policy change, that she could not transfer any current season RTW from another boutique. However, she would be able to "request" transferring the previous-season RTW, but it would be up to the other boutique which has the RTW to approve the transfer. And, even if I am providing my Credit Card info, there is no guarantee they can transfer in the RTW unless the other boutique approve the transfer.
Fortunately, in my case, the Florida boutique had 2 of the same jacket (same size) that I wanted, and they agreed to sell one jacket to my local boutique for my purchase.
So, I am not sure if ladies here have experienced similar issue in RTW transfer or not...

Re: merchandise transfers, for my local leased Chanel in Nordstrom, I was told that they could only transfer among Nordstrom Chanel boutiques, not any stand alone Chanel boutiques. This is entirely different from what I was told would happen when my local Nordstrom Chanel boutique went lease---we were all under the impression that it would be easier to get items from Chanel (and their stand alone boutiques) rather than worse. Though, when previously non-leased, they couldn't get merchandise from Chanel boutiques either, so I guess the policy really isn't worse, but in fact, the same.

+1 with @Tykhe. my SA has not had a problem getting things transferred for me, but it sometimes takes awhile. ( I don’t know if she has to horse trade to get what I want though). I’m not charged until I decide to get a piece (At chanel, Dior, or Brunello). it’s possible that the items i want ar not super coveted; though a coat at Dior oddly had to come from the Middle East and then go to
Paris Bf being routed to my home store, IDKW

Thanks. I was not charged either until I decide to get a piece.
However, it seems to me the Chanel boutiques which have the RTW may not be willing to "transfer." It was taking a while, and the boutiques didn't approve the transfer. So, I decided to offer my Credit Card info to increase the chance of success in transferring..

Yes, I experienced this and told to order directly from another boutique to get the pieces before it’s sold out!!!

And so when I ask for a semi popular item down the track I’m told I have more than one SA and should stick to one SA and have been already allocated to other customers. But they sent me to a different SA in the first place!

Also agree with the above comment about preorders. My store won’t take payment until it arrived but they ask me to assist with their orders whilst it happens before the season commenced but the pieces I assist with happens to “disappear” or gone to another VIP when it arrived. So pretty frustrated and I don’t want to do their “work” for them anymore.

Also agree with another comment above that I literally have 5 minutes to put down my card sometimes virtually to secure a piece and if it doesn’t happen right away it’s gone. I don’t have issue with first come first serve but it seems the policy keeps changing and sometimes there are waitlisted sometimes it’s first come first serve.

I was told by other senior staff from other brands that Chanel is giving stock to the concierge services who then sells them at a higher price for the hot pieces, to lift prices and exclusivity and it’s taken them by surprise how their game have been so successful.

So this is what I've been told by my SA about current collection-- no boutique transfers until 22nd (or was it the 23rd?). Even then, it sometimes takes managers and management involved to get another boutique to "let go" of their inventory. Sometimes stores will purposely put pieces on hold so it shows up as unavailable. It's a dog eat dog world even between boutiques!

My boutique was sold out (or temporarily sold out) of many pieces in my size from cruise. I tried on a handful of things and only fell in love with this jacket. It smells like it could have been a return because there’s a light perfume smell to it. Anyway, now that it’s home and reality has set in, I’m not even sure how to style it? I’ve never had a cropped jacket like this—I’m guessing whatever I wear on the bottom has to be high waisted. No one wants to see my stretched out midriff. :yucky:
Any suggestions on how to style? AND does it look ok on me? Be honest!

I think it looks great on you! High waisted jeans work well with this! Or maybe a high waisted skirt - mini or midi! Maybe a silk midi skirt with a print that has some white on it or black on it. Or a white or black dress inside - either shorter a-line or a longer straight dress.

Also because the sleeves are shorter and this a crewneck, I think something with a high collar and an embellished sleeve (like frills or something like that poking out) would be pretty!
