Yes this would be my first Chanel jacket purchase - they are so dificult to choose between!! I tried both and they were equally amazing. Here are some photos...

Hi everyone

So just an update on my jacket decision dilemma .... was undecided what to buy for a first chanel jacket. I opted for the off shoulder jacket and thought I'd post a photo of the altered version I have now picked up - sleeves shortened and the back slightly taken out as it was creasing with some slight inward adjustement to the waist. I love the final look - photos are from the dressing room (ignore the shoes!) but will post more once I wear it in future. Thanks for all the input!

It's funny. This is not something I would have considered but it is really flattering. Looks lovely on you.

Very excited to know it this will work! If they think I am crazy, that's OK LOL!

Another update - particularly for Gracekelly and periogirl28 ... As some of you know I totally loved  the lesage fabric on this jacket - the gorgeous colour, popping pink lining, the buttons but was disappointed with the open sides and the belt which did not seem practical. Having listened to all the comments I went back to try it again and speak with the Chanel tailors . The bottom line is that I spent a good few hours in Chanel and bought the jacket after agreeing the alterations to get to where I wanted. So Gracekelly - you are not mad at all!

The alterations we agreed apart from shortening the sleeves are:

-put sturdy discreet hooks on the side - so I can close the jacket from the sides when I want and it wont pop open; they cannot close it fully as there is a braid on front and back so putting it together makes it too bulky. Ive attached a photo of the underarm area - there is a vent which you need for movement as the arms are relatively fitted so unfortunately that will stay but I didn't think it was an issue and its not visible
-Let out the jacket at the back - so it looks less "tight" when the sides are closed and hangs better. You can see in the photo where pinned that it feels too fitted
-Raise the belt so it sits at waist level - currently its on my hips. In one of the photos the belt is pinned upwards - hence the odd bulk
-Fit the shoulders
-Remove the belt and keep it as an attachable option (with poppers on the inside of the front panel. We looked at attaching to the front (with spare buttons provided) but this makes the front more busy. This means I can wear the look more like a standard jacket when needed. They have said they may think of other options for this too. Not sure if belts are great on me but wanted some degree of option in retaining the original look.

I took a size 38 to accommodate the work needed - generally I'm a 34 but this jacket fits small and 36 was a good size but I still needed the extra 1/2 inch for side closure and to provide more fabric to take out at the back.

I have calculated on having a very versatile and unique jacket ( can wear open/ closed/ belt on or off/ cape or jacket) for all weathers that will keep an element of timelessness. I hope I enjoy wearing this for a long time once it is with me especially with the price! I had just bought the off shoulder jacket as a first jacket but felt something of this colour/ fabric might not come around again for a few years so thought I'd bite the bullet in one go for 2 amazing forever pieces!

I am really thrilled that you have pursued and captured this amazing piece! This is such a very very beautiful and unusual lesage tweed, not to mention the versatile design/wearability aspect, something exactly like this, with this color and tweed and design, will likely never be done again, not soon anyway.
Congratulations - it was made for you! Very very happy for you! :girlsigh::yahoo:

I see it on TRR but it's final sale. How is the fabric? Does it drape well? The shoulders look to be very wide so I'm a bit hesitant...TIA :flowers:

Inspired by you, I got the same jacket. The jersey is actually very soft and the embroidery is very beautifully. I found the shoulder are more like boat neck on me rather than off shoulder. It feels more like a cardigan for transition weather.

I agree - its probably not a jacket in the traditional sense and best suited to moderate weather if worn without anything else. Still pretty stunning though especially the trim on the neckline which speaks Chanel

The fabric is quite stiff. The length is a bit strange/on me/ difficult to combine, but one can wear it as a dress, if not too short. The shoulders are not very big, compared to shoulders right now. It’s slightly fitted and has a nice shape.
