Thank you 880 and M_ichele!
TT, I tried on the Peter Pan denim jacket also. It's boxy and also oversized. Definitely a street fashion look. Even the sleeves are wide and long. I think if that's the look you are going after it's a great piece. The denim jacket I got is feminine and very fitted. I don't recall anything that's cut this close to body in recent collections.

Same fabric, the opposite looks. There is one that fits you ;)

It shouldn't be this hard...

I finally got my denim jacket. It's cut very close to body which is rare for Chanel's recent collections. To my surprise, there is little work to be done - just shorten the sleeves. I love it.
Love this. Waiting for it to come in. I am confused though. Is this really a jacket or a denim blouse that can be worn as a shirt jacket.

Haha- “clear permission” Hermès ought to start issuing multi store shop visas - I love Hermès but really sometimes they just wear me out.
My DH loves to shop, too. More than I do really - aren’t we both lucky that way??

After my SA of 13 years left Hermes 3 years ago, I have kinda given up on H...

Next up, the metier jacket. It checks all boxes: botton closure, cute trims, lovely tweed, etc.
My SA couldn't locate my size so I got thr 36..lots need to be taken in. Will take two fittings...anyways...here is the footballer look with the original shoulder pads...I hope the alteration keeps the original feminine and soft look.
Absolutely love both jackets on you. Agree the denim one is cut very fitted though the material has stretch. How would you wear it?

I think if you absolutely love it, then go for it! It’s a distinctive look, and I love the shoulders. For me, the price per wear of the set is too high. It probably won’t stand the rest of time as a classic. I also think it demands higher heels than I prefer. Where do you see wearing it?
I was thinking of wearing them as a set and also individually on their own. Hence my trying to determine if they wear easily as separates. As a set it would look best with heels although the skirt itself can be worn with sneakers or (combat etc) boots. It is a quite a distinct look as a set hence probably to a nice dinner or event. I love the look and also the fabric, again not something very common from the house of C. The delay in shipment has kinda dampened my initial enthusiasm but I am still excited about it. CHF but also trying to be practical.

It is indeed a jacket. Very sturdy and substantial denim. But because it's cut close to body, you *could* wear it like a blouse.

I think I'll mostly wear it as a jacket. Can pair it with maxi pants in solid colors or simple skinny jeans. Anything in solid color should do. I can wear it open too, with a simple white tshirt or stripy tshirt under it.

How did you find the fit? It looks quite narrow. Need to size up if you want to wear sweater underneath?

the fitted denim jacket looks lovely on you! the fits and shape reminds me of some 13C versaille jacket

It is very narrow...and I happen to have a very slim upper body so it fits me perfectly. For a more normal proportioned person my guess is you will need to size up.
I can wear a light sweater underneath for sure.
btw we'll also make the sleeves a little narrower. Marion Cotillard's jacket looked a bit less fitted partly due to the loose sleeves IMHO.

I’m thinking if it’s the slim cut Chanel denim jacket, perhaps a ribbed tank top underneath (I’m not sure if the collarless close fitting denim jacket should have a collar peeking out or not; and fuller pants underneath. I personally think mixing designers is more fun, and due to some of my own figure issues, my go to trousers are generally all brunello pants, so. . .

olive green linen cotton cargos underneath, chanel ballet slippers
light grey linen joggers, chanel espadrilles
khaki full cut linen pants, golden goose sneakers
or
a structured tank dress like Akris (big skirt), valentino flat mules

or a Dior tie dye maxi midi skirt (I like to mix patterns)

or a pair of Dior sweats (pattern to be determined but if you mix patterns, then a larger scale one on the pants)

or (my personal favorite)a pair of racing stripe leather dolce joggers

Bc of my age (53) I prefer not to reference athletic sneakers that remind me of thr 1980s. I’d rather go to the seventies for inspiration.

@ms piggy, I stopped buying Hermes boutique wehn my SA left years ago. At that time, the Leo Leila scarf was popular and I think I recall your beautiful pics with either a 28 or 32HAC. I think the older H bags look nice with modern chanel RTW for a contrast

Both the HAC32 in Noir and Etoupe chèvre de coromandel are my forever workhorse bags though they have sadly been sitting pretty in the closet. You have reminded me to give them some air time.

Appreciate your thoughts on the fitted denim jacket, all great suggestions. Due to my own shape, a fuller bottom works better on me as I have a narrow top frame. Truth is look 20 was my favourite of 21A Metiers. Having waited this long, when I tired on the full set, I was a goner. I adore it as a set and love it equally as separately pieces. CHF full on. The skirt will be taken in at the waist as it is a size up (sitting too low) and sleeve shortened slightly.
