She's gorgeous! I just got a bag in this grey too and feel like the color was so underrated to still be available.
Yes, absolutely. They had the black and the grey available. I initially had the black reserved for me but in person I immediately jumped on the grey. It‘s even more stealthy looking than the black and it matches all of my navy blue clothes as well as black and every other colour. But since I wear mostly navy it’s just perfect. 😍

Not sure where to post this slightly funny story but since it involves a reissue, I guess I will share it here. I recently traveled to Singapore and we declared some alcohol we purchased when we landed, just to be safe. The customs officer asked to see what’s in my carry-on and after asking if I had “alcohol, cigarettes, vapes”, asked if I had any “new or old handbags”. I was traveling with my 12-series reissue so I showed it to her. She opened the reissue, looked through the bag’s interior, turned the bag over a few times and asked me if it was really an old bag. I said yes, I’ve had it for more than 10 years. She then said, “How come there aren’t any scratches?” By this time, I was wondering whether to feel annoyed or amused. She then asked to see photos of me wearing the purse, to prove it wasn’t new (!!) It took a while and thank goodness for phones, but I managed to find a 10-year-old photo of me with the same bag

Here’s the photo of said bag. And I think this is the story I will share if anyone questions me about Chanel’s quality!

I just purchased 224 reissue in patent leather and I’m in love. The bag looks like new, the inside is pristine.I was thinking that I my return it as it is a patent leather, but once I saw it I could not think of returning it.
Any tips how to look after the patent leather? This is my first patent leather bag and was wondering if I need to do something to keep it shiny and avoid the stickiness which people are describing.

Here is my bag I’m so happy 😀 IMG_5076.jpegIMG_5077.jpegIMG_5078.jpegIMG_5079.jpegIMG_5080.jpeg

Congrats, it’s gorgeous! I have a patent reissue which I bought preloved from Japan, it did feel a little sticky so I used a small amount of Vaseline (classic blue, little tin type) on my finger and buffed it gently with a microfibre cloth. It’s no longer sticky, I just do it from time to time.
This thread has lots of info about patent Chanel and is really helpful. If you do try Vaseline, spot test it on an unnoticeable part of the bag to be sure it’s ok.

To those who have had experiences with both the 224 with the double flap and the reissue mini with the single flap: I have a dilemma! I have owned the chevron lilac mini reissue from the 21 series for a couple years but have recently acquired a 224 in dark silver with ruthenium hardware. Now my concern is that I don’t need two mini reissues…. I love the double flap of the 224 but have any of you sold a newer bag of yours to make way for a secondhand gem?

Hi all! I am looking to add a 226 to my collection and found one on the secondary market (the new in boutique prices have left me behind lolll). It has gold marks on the leather under the flap from the grommets. I’ve never seen this before and wonder if it might have been caused by moisture? If so, I worry about the other issues moisture might have caused.

Have any of you seen/experienced this before? Is it ok or a deal breaker? TIA!

I have this exact bag and mine is 14 years old but I’ve never seen this on it. I wonder if it’s tarnishing and the color wore off?

That’s what I was wondering…makes me worry the bag might have been exposed to high moisture. Maybe I’ll make a general thread about this and see if anyone has seen this in 2.55 or CFs. Thanks!

Can anyone share insights into wear and tear for an aged calfskin 2.55 bag? Both mini and classic variations?
Specifically I am wondering:

1. Does the gold toned metal strap tarnish easily/if so what do you do about it

2. The shape of the top curvature. New bags seem to have a rounded curved top (as it should be) but whenever I see a used bag, the curvature is much sharper almost triangular. Is that just how the bag ages or is it based on user wear?

3. The bowing on the bottom of the bag… can it stand flat or does it fall over? Does it look plasticky/paper cardboard like over time due to the folds?

I really love the style and design of this bag but I only seem to like it when I see a fresh bag :) have yet to see a used 2.55 bag that has held its shape etc (whereas classic flap shape holds well, and some of the lambskin deflates a bit over time- just want to get a sense of how the bag ages)

Thanks in advance
