As for Hermes', when you walk in their boutique and you inquire about availability of Birkin or Kelly bag, will SA offer to call you once they got a new one in stock??? :confused1::confused1: Or will they look at you from top to the bottom to see if you are wealthy enough to acquire one?:supacool:

I don't have any Hermes, but some of my friends/family do and from what I've seen, it totally varies. In some cases, they will produce the bag you want right away. Sometimes they'll put you on a list, and sometimes they'll tell you the list is completely closed! So there's really no way to predict. I'm referring to the first purchase. Of course, once you form a relationship with them, it gets easier.

Here's a story.... last year when i was buying my first Chanel PST the Chanel SA told me the price would increase by 25%.... the actual increase was from 1250 to 1350..... not even 10%....

so take their words with a grain of salt...

As I've stated many times, even of all the rumored increases, I believe only a couple have happened. If all the rumored increases had taken place, a classic flap would probably be over $6000.

My SA said it's happening for sure on October 1st! :( A medium caviar flap will be freakin $2995, and the Jumbo is going to be $3295 (or $3250)... I don't remember exactly, because I almost fell off of my chair!! The cerf tote is going up by a ridiculous amount too, and will be $26xx!! I was considering that bag in black for a job, and I may bite the bullet before the 1st. It's highly likely (according to my SA) that the cruise pieces (some set to arrive by the end of Sept.) will come in with the new, inflated prices already in effect. :(

The GST (caviar) and Medallion will both be $24xx, and reissues aren't exempt either... I think the "227" size is going up to $32xx... I can find out for certain and normally I would have written this all down, but I was in complete shock. I apologize if all of this has been mentioned in previous pages... I'm too lazy (and disillusioned) to go back and take a look. The good old days seem like a dream come true... to think some of my medium flaps were purchased for "a mere" $1595! :(

My SA even mentioned that a lot of the classic costume jewelry pieces (crystal necklaces, stud earrings) are really popular but aren't being restocked by the boutiques (at least not for a while). Apparently this is because Chanel doesn't want these readily available, "cheaper" pieces being sold. Confusing to me, because a high demand (which does exist for those products) should dictate an increase in supply in the company wants to reap the benefits. Who knows what Chanel is thinking, besides the obvious - unabashed greed.

I already planned on being selective from now on because I've been lucky enough to acquire a lot of beautiful bags for my collection, but the price is truly a hindrance now... what on earth is Chanel thinking... oh wait, I know - they're after world domination, one flap/reissue/tote at a time!

^^^ Thanks for the info Minal. This is insane news on Chanel's part. :tdown: I believe they are making a huge mistake with the poor timing of these astronomical price increases. I think it is going to bite them in the arse. I am already noticing a lot of unsold inventory in the Chanel boutiques. I'm in shock at the new prices for the jumbo classic flap and the 227! I'm definitely going to be very selective with my purchases from Chanel too. Please post any more info that you find out about this. Argh! I wish I had started my Chanel addiction earlier, before all of these insane price increases. :sad:

I was told the price will increase Nov 1st, but that was a Bloomingdales SA. He had the new sheet with the new bags and prices. Perhaps it's different for various stores ... If it goes up before the next saks event .. I'm going to find something else. I'm just not that fascinated by these bags, and truly disgusted by the rudeness of the SA's at Chanel. The usual answer, "I DON'T KNOW." I can say that everyone was walking in and out of Chanel 57th street NYC , and no one was buying. I called the corporate office to get a size for a bag I'm interested in Xlarge jumbo flap. And she was rude. My $3000 is good all over, and I may just go back to Versace which is more exclusive and much better made than Chanel anyway. It's just too darn heavy for everyday. ....which i

I was offered by a SA in SF Hermes' boutique to call me if they have Birkin bags available. I left my number and if they do call, I will pass it to my friend. I have the vanity stirred by my 2 other friends as they are wanting one but I am really not ready for that luxury just now. :yes:

Last time, I saw 2 kelly bags there and the white calfskin one is $8700. well....it costs about 2 and half Chanel JUMBO.

So, pretty much in the near future, we can all afford Hermes as we acquire Chanel classic jumbo now. haha....

I guess if you want a Chanel bag, it makes no difference for just one month for price increases unless you are paying cash.

I am pretty much bored w/ current stock in Chanel boutique. Or I just didn't visit there often these days. I am allured by couple costum jewelry pieces only.My SA called me yesterday and wanting me to take kids for a walk..... to Chanel. haha..... My SA is too cute!!

i really really really hope...from the bottom of my heart that paris chanel wun increase their prices until NOV becoz I'll be there on 15th OCT to snap up many chanel bags...prices are ridiculous in singapore where I live and the SAs dun appear like they knoe much abt their own product knowledge....they juz told me a few days ago that east west bag had been discontinued by chanel...

Is the baby cabas bag still in season? i hope to get that in paris too...anybody knoes the price for that in paris? TIA!

My SA in Charlotte confirmed that there will be a price increase this fall. I think she said November 1. So, I ordered the GST in the new '08 grey caviar. I hope it looks OK since I'm 4' 11" but I want a bag that will look good in my old age and can fit my knitting needles and yarn or my drawing sketch pads.

I've been procrastinating on posting my Chanel collection, but I've got time now to do it.

Thanks for the information! I'd hate to find out out that the Jumbo clears over $3000 or the GST increases by several hundred.

I agree with fattyG that chanel prices in Singapore is crazy..btw, I will be in antwerp,belgium by this weekend..does anyone know if prices of chanel will differ within europe itself? as I might be going to paris, i would like to ask if anyone knows if it is comparatively cheaper in paris than in oth european countries..

This is what I don't understand regarding the medium being $2999. According to some other SAs, the new jumbo red caviar that is coming out for cruise will be $2995. That has been posted several places. The new XL jumbos will be $32xx-34xx. It just doesn't make sense to me that the medium will be so much...
