Its strange to me that Chanel would increase their prices in the US right now with the slagging economy. Even though the economic problems in our country haven't really directly effected me (as of yet I suppose), I still think harder about buying high $ items now. I just wonder if it will effect their sales here...
Personally I just bought my classics not too long ago, a jumbo and a GST, so I'm not too concerned with the increase effecting my purchases for a while.

My SA @ Chanel told me November 1st as well... he said the GST, which is $2,125 was going up to $2,4-something - so that would be approx. 13%. That was all he said...I didn't think to ask about the flaps.

i can deal with a 13% increase, but 30%, the gst going up to 3000 that i just can't deal with. i hope its 13%

I'm still wary of this- I'm going to ask my Saks SC about it today when I go and see if she'll presale a PST or a GST for me (I can't decide!!! argh!!) for the GC event next week. I wish Chanel would just hold off for a while- this hurts.

I just read that the Paris Sales Associates have said that in October they will be upping the price of Chanel bags by 400 Euros / 800 Sgd across the board.

Gah... this is a heart attack waiting to happen to me since I have always wanted a Chanel and this is a massive increase to me.

So anyone heard anything?

I am lusting after the Rose Pink Flap for fall, but I am kinda afraid of lambskin especially if it rubs against something dark and gets stained. Any advice for a Chanel newbie like me?

Or maybe I should just succumb to safety and get a Beige Caviar Leather Flap.

Yes...I s/w a Neiman Marcus associate and it is true. I finally caved and purchased my one and only Chanel last week at Saks during and EGC event.

The price will increasae Nov 1. Jumbo caviars will start at $3000 an increase of $350. The SA said in the sales meeting they recently had Chanel fans were furious but Chanel wants to make their bags exclusive and up them to the same price as Hermes ... Great !!
