HI I'm usually found in the LV forum but my next conquest will be the jumbo Classic Flap, black caviar with gold HW. Anyway, DH and I were talking about my 40th bday (Dec 2 '08) and what did I want/want to do; how he wanted to get me something really nice etc. So I told him I wanted to have a party, get new diamond studs (current ones I got myself when I sold engagement ring from ex, about 10yrs ago) and the Chanel bag (which I jokingly mentioned cause I thought I'd get shot down!). When I quoted the price, he kiddingly said, "$26.50?" But he was not averse to the idea, he did ask how far in advance he needed to order one, which I told him, no need-its available right now at NM! So it looks like a definite possibility and I'm excited!! However, mentioned this AM to him about possible price increase soon and he just said, "Oh" and left for work (I know he wouldn't pay more than price I quoted him-which is sensible-it IS alot for a bag and he was nonplussed about the history behind the bag). I then called the Chanel boutique at NM and she confirmed a price increase for sometime next week! Forgot to ask how much. So I'm gonna let him know and see what he says. Generally, how much have the increases been? Do you think the bag will top 3K? Looking back at this forum, the prices have gone up ridiculously in the past year-18mos. I guess the crappy dollar/sagging economy is helping things. Lets hope he says go for it. I, unfortunately, do not work full-time anymore cause I run his office and care for our little one. I work perdiem and lately haven't been able to get too many hours so "saving" my own $ isn't really an option (which sucks! I like my own $-you get used to it when you were single and working!) Anyway, TIA for your positive thoughts-just repeat-like you were hypnotizing my DH, "Charlie get the bag, Charlie get the bag" LOL!

Was talking to Chanel Singapore, and have been told that come May their will be a 20% price increase on the classics. And, you know, Chanel can't use the excuse of weak exchange rates of USD/EUR, cause in Singapore, the EUR/SGD has been pretty stable.
(I've got mine last March...in Paris..was S$3100)
