Not just Chanel. I was planning on buying a Hermes watch that my husabnd had admired in a BG catalogue for his birthday in April.

I just called local Hermes boutique and the price of the watch has gone up about $1K (pre-tax) in just a couple of months since the catalogue came out!

Almost a 30% increase - ouch!

I've been doing my best to stay away from the Chanel boutiques lately, well the handbag sections anyways...because everytime I look at them, I can't resisit. Anyways, anyone hear of when the next price increase will occur? Cuz if there is another crazy $400 hike...I will need to make my next purchase pronto, lol.

The latest rumor appears to be May (25?) Honestly, if you have the funds, just do it now. Prices aren't going down, that's for sure, so given Chanel's history of big increases, I'd just buy as soon as you can if you really want something.

I heard from BG that with same budget, the Fall purchase indeed has lower quantities. The timeless classic jumbo might go up to 3100ish. Comparing it was almost half that price before Feb.2007! Insane!

What really bugs me, and this isn't your fault I know you're the messanger, is hearing that "this bag MAY go up." I wish we could just get a straight answer!:cursing:

3295 for a GST, wtf?! :hysteric:

I think all this speculation is also a means to drive up sales. I mean, even IF the increases are definitely in May (which is still a little over a month away) -people were buying even a couple weeks ago because some SA's mentioned March 1st being a possible increase date in order to beat out the increase.

Sorry but over 3g's on a Jumbo or a GST is just ridiculous. I get that the economy sucks in the US, but it's not THAT bad considering the same bags were 1/4 less (if not more) than what they were @ a little over a year ago, when it seems as if the economy was just equally as crap-tacular as it is now.

Okay, apologies now... rant over.
