OMG...this is crazy.

I'm glad that I've most of my Chanel "must-have" bags before the Nov's price increase (I tried to spot down one more Jumbo Caviar flap, but couldn't bring myself buy one in today's price). Since the price is far beyond my comfort level, I might be only silent admier from now on.

I heard from the Saks in Chevy Chase, MD that prices were going up in March. I guess that could be the adjustment on the pieces that didn't go up in November. He didn't say anything about May, but that would be perfect for me. I'm trying to wait until the next EGC, which looks like it's be in March. The 20th maybe? Has anyone heard?

THEN, I'm going to apply the $300 GC from the Chanel to a new LV.

I trust his level of knowledge as he's been one of the top two most resourceful Chanel SA's I've encountered. Then this May there's expected to be another big price hike for the classics. He was checking the new order sheets for BG's spring re-orders (of the classics) and noticed totally different prices listed.....he said he did a double-take at first while inputting some numbers into computers and then realized the higher prices are the new prices for May and beyond (from his recollection, the caviar jumbo is going up to something like $3,1xx coming May).

Wonder if any of our other ladies here heard similar things from SA's at other dept. stores/boutiques? After my visit to BG this afternoon I strolled over to Saks and none of the Saks Chanel SA's had any idea of an impending price increase (no knowledge of the one in Feb. or in May).

This is more along the lines of what I was expecting. I just thought it was weird that there was supposedly a huge increase Feb 1 that no one really had any knowledge of. I kind of expected this. Oh well. Better to know now rather than later!

What is EGC? I have only bought one Chanel from Bloomies, and I am not sure what EGC is...is it something Saks does?

You get GCs for spending a certain amount (not limited to Chanel):

$250-$499 = $25
$500-$999 = $50
$1000-$1999 = $100
$2000-$2999 = $300
$3000+ = $450

They generally do them every month or every other month. It's also called "spend some, get some."

ah well Chanel is getting what they wanted out of their price increases- more exclusivity. People like myself who have to save up for each peice of Chanel will no longer be able to drop $3k on a Chanel bag:crybaby:

This is exactly what I heard from the SA at BG a week ago as well - must have been Joseph also. While I trust his words since he seems to have been fairly confident and thorough in his answer, I wanted to know if there were any definitive answers from SAs in other department stores and other Chanel boutiques.

Maybe i OUGHT to purchase in May anyway - it would be the perfect birthday present lol

I'm really not surprised Chanel is planning to increase their prices again. Just really disheartened!! I'm just so glad I got all but 1 of my bags before all of the nasty price increases!
