This entire post is basically regarding that rumor. Most rumors originally said Feb 1. Well it is Feb 1 and no increase. My SA has always been honest with me and up front about them and she has said that she hasn't heard anything yet. I don't know what to think given all the conflicting stories however, it obvoiusly isn't happening today...

the thing is... if the prices increase, then will the quality of the bags get better as well? If Chanel is expecting people to shell out 3K for their bags, these classics better hold up well for my lifetime... and then some!

the Classic Timeless collection has been proven many times to last over decades w/care. Sadly Chanel don't increase b/c of better material/craftmanship, but just to mantain it's exclusive status.

Remember the Nov07 price increase? It didn't happen on Nov1st and Saks, NM, Bloomingdales, and Nordstroms all raised their prices at different times through out the month.

My Nordstrom SA told me that Feb08 is the time for the price increase.

So my guess is that it will happen, just like the Nov07 increase. :crybaby:

Yes, this is true, however, to my knowledge it hasn't happened in the boutiques yet either so...

I had a lengthy chat with Joseph @ BG Chanel today about these price increase "rumors" and he confirmed that they are true. I trust his level of knowledge as he's been one of the top two most resourceful Chanel SA's I've encountered. He said that sometime this month (Feb.) there will be a small "adjustment increase" (supposedly not too drastic like last time) mainly on the pieces that didn't experience a price increase last time -- e.g. Cerf totes, GST/PST's.....the Feb. price increase is supposed to bring those prices up to par (b/c now the Cerf retail is just a bit more than the E-W and it's a large chunk of leather vs. just a tiny baguette).

Then this May there's expected to be another big price hike for the classics. He was checking the new order sheets for BG's spring re-orders (of the classics) and noticed totally different prices listed.....he said he did a double-take at first while inputting some numbers into computers and then realized the higher prices are the new prices for May and beyond (from his recollection, the caviar jumbo is going up to something like $3,1xx coming May).

Wonder if any of our other ladies here heard similar things from SA's at other dept. stores/boutiques? After my visit to BG this afternoon I strolled over to Saks and none of the Saks Chanel SA's had any idea of an impending price increase (no knowledge of the one in Feb. or in May).

I heard from my SA that the price will increase again (somewhere between Feb-March), but he doesn't know when specifically... To be honest, I'm not surprised. Let's face it, it's gonna happen sooner or later. Chanel wasn't kidding when they want their bags to be around $3000.:nogood:

Thanks so much for the update foxy! i :heart: joseph and if it's coming from him, I believe it! gosh... guess i better drain my savings account now if jumbos are going to be $3000+!!!

btw does anyone else remember the GST $3000 scare? i wonder if the GST is going to increase to that price and if the price in that mentioned lookbook is actually the real price :wtf:

I have my classics already and don't wish to purchase anything else in the future as I am happy. Yet, I am not happy about this increase in price...I actually don't want to be carrying around a purse that retails for $3,000+ even if I paid hundreds or even a thousand less for it. I guess it's about my comfort level. I'm just not comfortable...to each their own, right?...does anyone else feel this way or am I just strange? :shrugs:

On another level, it really does disturb me that Chanel can increase their prices for the same exact purse to his exorbitant extent, just because.... It's as if they are out to prove something...?
