Chanel J12...trendy or will it be a classic?

i think it's trendy and although it was introduced in 2000, it only reached the big time (publicity, celebs, magazine features) in the past two years, so in my opinion 3 to 5 years from now it will look dated and part of the '2007-8' era kwim? Think of it like a chole paddy, yes they were in the forefront of fashion for a while and they are still selling well, but what do you think when you see a woman carrying one? IMHO paddys, look dated and the same trend will happen with j12s. However I feel if one loves something they should wear it regardless.

They really are likely trendy. Shoot, my friends in the jewelry biz talk about this bezels on Rolexs being trendy, that link style on a Cartier, etc... so my opinion after listening to them is that a LOT of watch details are trendy! You simply pick the trend you like and enjoy it.

You are always in fashion if you follow a personal style. Make your J12 your signature piece. Who can argue with that? :girlsigh:

Will the J12 be a classic piece or is it more of a trendy watch that will go out of style? Cant really afford the J12 now :crybaby:but might get the similar style which is the technomarine white ceramic :graucho:. Just want to make sure it'll still be a hot timepiece 10 years from now. Your thoughts please.

Same here! I have the same dilemma....so I think I'll try a Technomarine and see if I really like ceramic white watches then I'll go for the 'Big' one...the J12.

is it ok to bump an old thread?

i think the j12 is trendy as well, but i just love it. i thought about buying it many, many, manyyyy price increases ago but never did. i bought a cartier tank francaise instead, because i was sure that would be classic and something i could wear "forever" as opposed to the trendy j12. so i bought the cartier, and two years later, i still want the j12. then last month i bought my first rolex. again, i could have bought the j12 or the rolex.....and i again chose rolex over j12 because of the trend issue. after receiving my rolex, i should have been satisfied. but nope, i was still thinking about that darn j12! i've learned a very expensive lesson now. i should have just bought it from the very beginning.

I actually think it is a modern classic rather than trendy- it has been popular for several years now, as have bigger watches in general, and it is very simple in style.

And as Chanel has just shown a predominantly white (with some black) collection  I don't think either the white or black J12 is likely to out of style anytime soon.

Probably more on the trendy side but looks pretty darn cool! Its not my personal style but a lot of people can really rock the j12. I tend to think the whole ceramic watch thing is a bit trendy since its not as traditional a metal watches. How it will seem in a few years, only time can tell for sure...
