i completely agree with you! The environment they create causes such a frenzy. And it’s not luxurious. Tbh the raffle system at department stores is so tacky to me and not elegant. They cause so much stress and anxiety but my saving grace has been realizing that I just need to have patience because colors come around again (although God knows what astronomical price it will be). For example, the 21s pink craze was too confusing and stressful for me so I sat it out. Pinks were called lilacs, beiges were called pinks, and there were 4 or 5 different color codes floating around for various shades of pink and “pink”. It made me feel like I was looking at a math equation and going cross eyed lol. But now just a few months later there is an upcoming midtone pink in 22c and a pale pink in 22p, so me and others who missed out before can get those. I much prefer the 22p pale pink to the fleshy rose claire everyone was so hyped for. There will always be more pinks. There will always be more iridescents. There will always be more shades of beige and caramel. And seemingly, sooner rather than later in all cases. So once I realize my blood pressure and adrenaline and pumping from the competition of trying to get a bag I just take a little woosah. I make a strong effort will several SAs but at some point you have to sit back and just say whatever will be will be. You might get off a list or you might not. As long as you know you did all you could (texting tons of SAs expressing interest and checking back a few times) then I think it’s easier to accept whatever ends up happening.
And I too do the same texting tens of SAs trying to get on lists and plan. Then am told it’s to early to reserve check back, or that I’m on some secret pre-reserve waitlist, then I check back and it’s too late, or check back and I’m on but it’s not guaranteed etc. They don’t really foster a lot of loyalty to their stores the way other brands do Bc to many smaller or midsized stores they only send 2-4 bags of a style. So ppl are forced to contact multiple stores, multiple SAs etc.
I do love Chanel, but I agree that the buying process kills joy at times. I kind of feel like I just want to rush to get all the colors I want ASAP so I don’t have to deal with this stress in the future.
