Chanel boutiques getting rid of waitlists

I posted this in the 21A forum but I think it applies here too.

I was notified today by my SA at standalone boutique that there will be no more waitlists reserve lists for her store going forward. This is at Costa Mesa. It just came up today. Would be good to know if this is happening at other boutiques
If anyone has any intel at other boutiques, please share. It’s unclear as to how the bags will be allocated going forward. I know department stores seem to be moving to a lottery system but I don’t understand how that works.

Also, I think this is a result of ongoing problems...aka resellers.
I have never resold a Chanel bag so it’s really sad that items I’ve been tracking for upcoming seasons won’t be reservable anymore. Sigh. #disappointmentisreal
I was at South Coast Plaza on Monday and the line was 50 ppl deep at Chanel and no one else in the mall! I didn’t have time to wait... but that store is a mess. I can’t even find appointments on the app.

yup a SCP customer here too. One time I waited 90mins to go in and return - and then they didn't even ask if I wanted to see anything else and kind of rushed me out :| My SA said appointments are available during the week though, just not weekends. So if you have N SA I highly advise you send them a text and reserve a time slot.

I am a SCP customer too. In September, I wanted to make an appt to shop instead of waiting in that line (which only moves if someone from the appointment list is a no show). So, I called the 800 number and they said it would take 48-72 hours for a store representative to get back to me. I never heard back. I called the 800 number again. Never heard back. Weeks had past by at this point. I was getting a little annoyed, and I was told someone would get back to me this time. Nothing. I ended up calling 4 or 5 times until a manager from SCP called me back and said she could take me that upcoming weekend. I wasn't able to get in until the end of November by that point. (For the record, I was told multiple times by the customer service rep that SCP is the busiest store in CA - even more so than Beverly Hills. Insane.) I get that they are busy and there are COVID precautions, but I just feel like the customer service is lacking. Then, this past weekend, I went in just to drop off a bag for repair. They wouldn't let me walk more than 2 feet into the store. When I asked if I could peak in to take a look at the new collection, I was told to "hurry" and to only take a "quick peak." Insane. Luxury shopping is definitely feeling less luxurious!!

Wow going to SoCal soon was going to try and go to South Coast because going to the SF boutique is so sketchy and the neimans in Palo Alto has a long line but clearly South Coast is way worse. Oh well as time passes Chanel is turning me completely off not that they care

They definitely take appointments, so if you're going to be down here, I would certainly call now to try and make one. I truly hope that my experience recently was a fluke! But I wouldn't count on just showing up because that line does NOT move!!! You'd be there for hours! So my advice is calling. I will say, the SA who did help me that day was lovely, and I have her contact info. I would be happy to PM her info to you so that you can contact her directly for an appointment

That line is crazy. Out of sheer curiosity as someone out of state, is there a reason why South Coast plaza is so popular? Aren’t there a few boutiques in the LA area (Beverly hills, Robertson) and dept store boutiques too?

I wonder if it’s because it’s in a mall and parking is more accessible??

South coast plaza is in Costa Mesa which is in Orange County so it isn’t near the LA shops per se. I live between both areas and I can get to SCP in 20 minutes and LA in an hour with no traffic. Factor in traffic, going into LA can take at least 2 hours. The advantage to LA is you have two boutiques plus saks and NM within a few miles. SCP is a flagship store but it’s in a mall with a lot of other luxury shopping so it’s very convenient in that sense.

Ah the notorious LA traffic. How could I forget, it took me 2 hrs to get somewhere that was 30 miles away :cursing:

I would struggle weighing the pros and cons of making a chanel trip lol (LA traffic + more chanel options) VS (standing on a long line at SCP + convenience of other luxury brands):whut: lol what a headache
