Chanel at Costco

i've heard of members buying authentic chanel at costco before.. i have never personally seen it in costco, but when i used to go, i always flew to the glass case where they held all the designer bags.

i saw a lot of coach , some fendi and gucci. never a chanel though.

I spoke to LVMH and they confirmed my contention that any LV goods at Costco's are either fake or being illegally sold. Maybe watches are in the same category as eyeglasses, i.e., companies license them out. I'd be interested to hear what official statement Chanel corporate has on this issue. I asuume it would be very similar to what LVMH said. If I find out anything, I'll let you gals know.

I do think LV can't be carried anymore by costco because of a problem that stemmed a while ago. Costco in fact was accused of selling fake LV's because they purchased from a non reputable source. Ever since this happened, they now have taken proper actions in obtaining real luxe items. LV however may have won some kind of suit over Costco selling their items. I hope that other designers follow.

there is a white ladies j12 at the south austin costco. guess people in austin are a bit too laid back to want to pay 4k for a chanel watch. it taunts me everytime i go there. :) it's been there for a good 4 ~5 months.

^^ Yeah, it's just not allowed period. I agree with you. I called Chanel and they said the exact same thing. Anything at Costco's is either fake or illegal, and this includes the watches which they said are only sold at boutiques that carry thier fine jewelry items. I am happy with the official stance both companies have taken; now I just hope they follow up with vigorous enforcement of thier intellectual property rights.

I don't belong to Costco, but I belong to BJ's (same type of place). I have seen Fendi, Coach and lot's of Prada bags in the glass cases, and for watches I have seen Tag's, but never Chanel. Sunglasses I have seen Fendi, and Oakley mostly. I've never seen and Chanel in BJ's, ever. But my eyes are always searching.

I seen designer bags (coach, prada, gucci, etc)before in costco. But mostly the really bugly ones. only one celine bittersweet that was pretty nice.

watches i have seen michelle, gucci, dior, cartier and phillip Stein. It also confuses me how they get away with this.

I have seen several times chanel J12 watches at 2 costco stores in fairfax county, VA. My hubby actually purchased one for me last year there (it was a black J12, with diamonds on the watch face, man size) for about $2200. It came with the original box and papers and looked authentic, I later returned it though since it was way too big for my wrist. I have not checked lately though so I am not sure if they still carry them.

I use to be a member of Sams Club and last fall I received a litigation letter from them. (Apparently a couple was suing them because they were sold a fake Prada) Sams said that if I had purchased a Prada handbag, it was my option to return it for a full refund.

You should not be posting misinformation.

Here is a link to this post that she is referring to.

^^ How is that misinformation! I called Chanel, the same way I called LV. WHat is your problem? Since you seem to be sweating my posts, why don't you go back in chronological order. I asked a question here, just like I did in LV forum. I also called the respective numbers. I am also going to follow up on a corporate level as to the legality of the practices.

No, I am not "sweating" your posts, I find it misleading that you are saying that you have contacted LVMH and Chanel and they told you that the items sold at Costco are fake or illegally obtained. Contacting a boutique or customer service number is not contacting a corporate office - Of course sales associates and telephone operators are going to say such things, they have absolutely no idea what they are talking about!

I have been in contact with LVMH on a Corporate level as well as with the Director of the counterfeit department in New York City. I have also been in contact with the Executive Director of Costco and Costco's purchasing agent - Costco is selling legitimate, authentic goods and they are not breaking any laws by doing so.

Costco has contracts with many high-end designers, jewelers, etc to sell their merchandise. Chanel is not one of them, but Costco purchases Chanel, Louis Vuitton and Hermes for the sake of reselling it - All authentic, purchased through private channels.

You should not being telling people on these forums, who are authentic designer bag lovers that the bags from Costco are fake or illegal to sell/purchase. There are many people on these forums that would only be able to purchase a designer bag if they were able to get it at a discounted price. You should not be steering people away with false information about a company that IS providing AUTHENTIC DESIGNER GOODS at discounted prices. Otherwise, someone will probably end up going on eBay to a so called "My Poupette Recommended" seller and wind up purchasing a fake.

Be careful of the information that you provide on public forums, you should make sure that it is 100% accurate before making any statement about the validity of a company.
