Cartier unpopular opinions

I passed by the Cartier Mansion on 5th Ave today and was turned off by the long line.

And just like that, I started to second guess my admiration for Cartier and had some sort of rude awakening how mainstream and dime a dozen their pieces are - especially the Love bracelets and rings.

100% agree! My unpopular opinion is that the Love bracelet + ring will soon turn into Gucci of the designer world, but for jewelry. It's a classic--don't get me wrong! But I don't wear my 2 love bracelets anymore, sadly, because it doesn't feel as exclusive as it was before. . . It'll soon turn into "that gold bracelet everyone has."

I'm holding onto my loves just bc they hold sentimental value and look good in my safe but I think it'll be a long time until I bring them out again!

1. I am not fond of the JUC...I love many other Cartier designs but not this one.

2. I think the love bracelet is so classic and timeless but the idea of not being able to quickly remove a bracelet makes me panic, so I will probably never get one.

3. I grew up in an affluent place. In the 70s and 80s you would see someone with one love bracelet. It was so elegant. I do not get the stacking of multiple bracelets. It seems like overkill.

I might be in the very small minority on this one, but I think the attitude that "gifts" from Cartier with purchase are expected (and at times demanded) is really bizarre. Comes off as weird and entitled to me. :shrugs:

I agree for the most part.. I was recently at Cartier and found it a bit odd they never offer water or refreshments during the sale or checkout while VCA downstairs offered water and chocolates while I was browsing.

If you’re buying multiple items in one purchase/buying something on the pricey side, then I would hope your SA gifts you something but if you’re just buying a LOVE or a JUC and expecting chocolates, champagne, candles and more, then you need to lower your expectations. They sell these items all the time. Gifts are always nice to receive but should not be expected/demanded.

Hmm - I would think that at *least* the offer of water while you browse would be etiquette here...

This.

Something to add to my previous opinions:

I just had a horrible customer service experience with my last purchase. After much thought and analyzing some of my previous shopping experiences at Cartier - I can say that both Cartier boutiques in NYC have awful customer service - from management to staff. My SA included. It makes me never want to shop at Cartier again - and with the impending price increase, I probably won’t. I have crossed out most items on my wishlist anyways lol.

Same here. I wanted to return (possibly) exchange for something else. But my sa stopped responding to texts. Very unprofessional and rude.

So I went to another store, happily exchanged my item. But guess what?! They forgot to include my certificate. Almost 2 weeks later, I am still following up with a SA from the store regarding mailing the certificate.

Not a pleasant first time experience, will take my money to VCA. My SA let me tried everything I inquired about and even provided chocolates (not needed - but a friendly gesture) before I even purchased anything!

* I wish there were more white gold options because most of the pieces are available in yellow gold and rose gold only. I want a small JUC bracelet in white gold!

This can be said about Bulgari and VCA as well lol.

* I prefer the small Love bracelets over the regular sized ones. In fact, I’m not a fan of the regular sized Love bracelets - they are everywhere!

love the thin loves as well, they are stunning

I'm not a fan of the Cartier's white gold.

And I am also not a fan of the regular love bracelets (they look too big for me) but love the look of the small love bracelets. *runs and hides*

the thin love is stunning i think you should get what makes you happy

My two wildly unpopular opinions:

1. The regular love bracelet looks the best on it’s own. It’s much more captivating, elegant, and the simplicity of it’s design really stands out when it’s not stacked. I’m not a fan of stacks containing multiple loves at all. Looks excessive/over-the-top and it takes away from the design, imo.

2. The thin juc with or without diamonds looks cheap. I can’t get over how thin and flimsy it looks - like a paperclip wrapped around the wrist. Even though it’s a fraction of the cost in comparison to the original, it still feels way overpriced for what you’re getting

I completely agree I love the love on its own it’s classy by itself no stacking required.

Agreed. I feel the same way. I find it obnoxious to have more than 3+ LOVE bangles stacked. *runs away and hides*
