So I recently bought an Hermes H-Hour PM with blue jean leather strap, but after wearing it a few times I started to have buyer's remorse. I initially fell in love with H-Hour because I know someone who's been wearing it for years and I've been drooled over it. Finally this year with DH's help, I was able to pull the trigger and get it. But once I put it on, I have to say it doesn't feel like a $2000 watch, although it still looks classy and chic in the mirror. I'm beginning to think maybe I should return it (by end of month) and get myself a cartier tank instead.
I didn't consider tank before because I thought it's something I'll wear after 40. But visiting this forum and seeing everyone pulling it off so well, makes me think it's a more versatile piece and better investment (hubby is all about bang for the bucks). I'm opening my options to H-Hour leather strap, Tank solo SS or Tank Francaise SS. Solo has a friendlier price and the similar look, Tank feels more feminine and classy but the price point is a little stretch (Jumashop has it for around $3400).
About me: mostly casual style, work-from-home writer and soon-to-be mom
On my left hand: RG cartier love 3-diamond ring and RG love bracelet (probably won't stack the watch so maybe I'll move bracelet to the right hand)
I'm really thinking hard about this one since it'll be a watch for the next 10 years, maybe? It'll be my last big purchase for a while since we need to focus on the baby. I did a lot of research and realized the up-keeping luxury watch is not cheap, so I need to make the right choice. It's a bit scary to switch from H-hour to Tank all of a sudden because I thought H-hour was my fantasy watch. I wish there's a cartier boutique nearby to help me decide. But right now I'm hoping to count on some experts' opinions here.
Sorry for the long novel. Please tell me which one you would suggest? H-hour, Tank Solo or Francaise? Thanks so much!!![]()
Discount wise, I'm not sure if we're allowed to talk about discount or not in this forum, but all I can say is expect more than 10% off RRP. I must say it's really a classic watch this one.
I would like to know more about the discount on the Tank SS Solo. I have been thinking of purchasing this as well. If anyone has any advice on where to purchase, it would be much appreciated.
Thanks for the reply. Please do pose pictures. Would love to see it with your love combo. So I own a YG love bracelet, just bought a RG one to stack with it (both worn on my left wrist) and I'm about to purchase the SS tank solo. I adore the watch, think its a classic, and would say you should go for that one (obviously I'm partial). I can post pics once my watch has arrived and has been sized!!
Good luck!
Discount or not, I know that it needs to be Cartier authorized and warrantied to ensure quality and authenticity. I'm also looking for authorized dealers and see if it comes with cartier warranty, hopefully discounts too. If they're not increasing the prices on the watches soon I can shop around.Discount wise, I'm not sure if we're allowed to talk about discount or not in this forum, but all I can say is expect more than 10% off RRP. Hi, I'm currently shopping for a Cartier watch too - it's great funNot sure if you already know, but the official Cartier site provides the details of all of their ADs. If you buy from these ADs, you will be covered by the Cartier warranty and can take your watch for servicing at any Cartier boutique. Re. discounts, all the ADs I've been to have offered a discount as well.
Thanks. Yes I checked with the only one local dealer here, but they don't have any tanks! Maybe I'll ask if they can order it.Hi, I'm currently shopping for a Cartier watch too - it's great funNot sure if you already know, but the official Cartier site provides the details of all of their ADs. Hi, phillj12I am not familiar with the Hermes watch, but I have a 4 Diamond YG Love and a SS tank francaise with MOP face. I love my tank, only regret is getting the small size (at the time I got it, large watches weren't the rage). I think it's one of the most classic, elegant and timeless watches around, also quite popular. It's a super comfortable watch too, I usu wear mine 24/7 except not in the shower. One shock for me was the repair fee! Paid $450 for new battery and some other maintenance when the watch was about 3 years old. But that's typical for high-end watches.
Good luck!

OMG! $450?! Thanks for posting this. Definitely something to consider.
