Cartier silk cord bracelets

Today I went for a cord change as I wanted a blue cord. This time around, the SA left a bit of the cord sticking out at the ends, instead of tucking it into the knot fully. I think this way it’s less likely to undo by itself and may be more durable

That’s how my cord is and I bought the bracelet directly from Cartier.

Update: Was in the Cartier Boutique in Venice/Italy in may for a cord change, they just had two colours to chose from. The Boutique in Luxembourg where I was last saturday had lots of colours. Light blue it is for the moment. Next stop Paris in august!
I’m currently in Venice now and was thinking of having my cord replaced. Maybe I should wait until I get to Rome if they only have a few colors to choose from.

I don't think it really matters so long as they burn the end so it doesn't fray and creates a barrier so it doesn't come loose. I make the knots myself (since I don't currently live in a city with a boutique) and aesthetically I don't like the ends to be too long so I burn it closer to the knot.

You can always change the cord in Venice and then change it again in Rome.

Does anyone know if there is a policy about giving spare cords during a cord change? I don't live close to a boutique and was only given one spare at the time of purchase. Not sure when I'd visit a boutique next, so I'm really hoping I can have another (ideally couple) spare when I do get a chance to visit next.

Alternatively, have anyone found any good online sellers of these silk cords? I've purchased a few colours to try but the quality is not as good as Cartier's (thinner and more slippery). They look the part in photos but the physical feel of them is just not on par!

Currently I've got a bright Tiffany blue but would want to go with something darker for A/W.

I'm sure if you ask..and let them know it's not easy to stop in to a boutique they may give you extra.

I can always get a spare cord in the boutique. Those silk cords are very hard to find and I purchased some in Japan which are exactly the same as those from Cartier. You don't need to worry too much as it is very durable according to my experience. My current one has been last for over 8 months and is still holding up very well. So should be alright as you already have one spare cord. Just get another one when you visit the boutique next time if they have the colors that you love.

Thanks, I'll definitely give it a go when I've chance next. Was wondering if anyone experienced it before - given the inconsistent customer service, it's always helpful to know about precedents!

Fantastic - that bodes well. Fingers crossed they'll be similarly helpful when I visit next! Thank you :)

Hi everyone! Considering the current price of 810 €, do you still think the bracelet is worth it? I think it’s such a fun piece, but since it’s basically fabric, I’m a bit hesitant

I've worn mine every day for 7 years and whilst it was around £400ish I think back then, I have enjoyed changing the cord colour with the seasons and I've certainly never regretted it or wanted to stop wearing it. Cost per wear is pretty good and whilst the price is much higher now, relative to other Cartier jewellery it's pretty reasonable. If it doubles again in another 7 years you'll be glad you bought it now if you like it!

Thanks for your opinion :) I guess you’re right. I have my appointment in November anyway, I’ll try it then and might just buy it.
