They are not doing them anymore - even though I did one this summer, the sales associate in Venice told me to do it myself. I guess they get a lot of requests for cord changes in the summer. She also told me this has been the case for a year, which is not my experience. So I’ll leave it to my talented oceanographer spouse to tie the knots for me.

Also, thank you tik tok influencers for taking something that could have very well been a once every four month change and turned it into a game that resulted in a corporate change of policy. Well done.

I agree it's a real shame. I used to love to pop into a Cartier boutique whenever I was on holiday or on a trip somewhere to get a different cord. Only every 3 - 6 months or so, but they had a good selection of colours and it was nice to have something different for the different seasons. When they changed to the small selection of colours (only two of which I would want) I parted ways with mine.

I don't see why they can't do what Dinh Van does with cord bracelets, there's a large selection of colours but they charge you 15 euros to change them, so less likely to be abused.

How weird that this differs so much from place to place. I changed mine in Vienna last saturday and they have two People specifically for changing chords and the securities outside let you skip the waiting line if you are there for chord changing.

Perhaps it varies by staff availability and whether or not it’s being abused at a certain location. I had 2 of mine changed in the last 6 months (both at the same time) in Vegas while on vacation

Still limited color selections. I really hope one day they would bring back the larger selections. I’ve tried getting silk cords from different sources but they are just not the same quality. I even asked my SA is she could ask for me that where Cartier gets the cord from but she was told that only from corporate has the info. Ughh…

My boutique in Germany had only 3 colors to choose lately!😨 She suggested me to go to any boutique wherever I am traveling to ask for the extra cord and taking home w me…🫠
