I think it depends on the quality of the individual necklace.

A good quality, well made one could look cool.

Big fan of SATC always wanted one and got one this year from intuition. I don't think it's tacky unless you wear it with other necklaces at the same time.

I just wouldn't wear it with a business out, it's better to get a formal one then (might wanny try a "Miss Veith" one for myself...lol)

It's tacky if you have matching name hoop earrings in gold "diamond cut", the ever popular scrunchie in your hair (in a 1/2 ponytail), keds, tapered jeans and levi's jacket.

Somehow I don't think you are going to be rockin' that so...definately get it! lol! It's cute and again, as many others said...if you wear it right, it's hip and cute. If you wear it as if you literally stepped out of a time warp then it's leaning towards tacky.
