This is my first Linea Pelle purse and I love it to death but for some reason I decided to get it in vanilla and now I have stains form my jeans on it
Is there anyone out there who can please tell me that there is some way to remove these stains and bring my baby back to new??...
Ink Stains can be prevented. Try carrying your pen inside your plastic-lined makeup case. Ink in naked LP leather is permanent. Typical ink removers will not work.Im really worried about getting pen marks on my new LP wallet (in cognac) thats coming in through the mail. Its replacing my old fossil wallet thats a bit darker and already covered in ink which seems to be something I just cant avoid. Any tips on how to get it out, just in case?
Hi girls.. just checking.. I don't find much mention in this thread about the fringe Janis. Mine just arrived, in black, so I am not much concerned about stain repellent, and my bags DO NOT sit in the sun, so fading not likely.
I assume Janis is standard LP washed leather...? Any general conditioning recommended for the Janis?
TIA
All those long cuts can mean dryish fringe. I did mine with a light conditioner right away. LeatherMagic conditioner for Aniline/naked/suede/nubuck formula is ideal. Spritz it on, then wipe it gently over the fringe that has been laid out flat before going over the rest of the bag.
Janis is not garment washed (post construction) like the Dylans are.
They all start as washed leather, some with a superfatted retannage.
LP leather standards are World Class, but do vary among the styles, from the enzyme washed to the metallic rub-off to the washed-oiled.
This assessment is based on experience and comparisons to my own favorite leathers. I haven't spoken with LP leather buyers, but am very familiar with my medium.
(in my dreams I get to go leather shopping in Italy's tanneries)
Remember that creamy, rich, or oily conditioners will alter LP leather! Essentially this adds an undesirable finish to a naked leather, with loss of the soft matte, silky feel.
Thanks for the info, Stormy. I shall have to hunt down LeatherMagic. I have Apple, LMB, UGG and TLC, but I have not ever seen LeatherMagic.
I love leathers. I think LEATHER is the sole reason that I buy bags and boots. I love the smell, the feel. I don't comprehend cloth bags. Or even metallic bags, as why put metallic on a leather??
Anyway... Janis is nice, going to be a very fun bag. I wish it was lined inside the bag, as they lined the pockets. But, It's a cool bag and I will get good use of it this fall when (IF) the weather ever cools off. Shall get her conditioned b4 then.
If you ever get to the tanneries... send pix! Thanks again for the lesson!
BTW... what do you do that you get to play w/ leather??
You're welcome ! http://www.leathermagic.com/Pages/totlNuBulthrcarekit.htm
ITA with your leather love. I have even slept under full soft hides.
I enjoy Janis very much, rustic as she is.
(I design and construct custom leather goods by hand.)
OMG.. if that is your JOB.. then, hon.. you have the DREAM JOB. We have collected many hides thru-out the years. I have several hides as rugs, several on the walls, USED to have one on the bed, but our current dogs are hunting dogs.. who sleep on our bed... and the hide was simply much too much of a temptation. AND it's much easier to wash a coverlet every few days, than a hide!!
I love the Janis.. BUT.. I have ALWAYS had an affliction for fringe. Probably something I shall NEVER outgrow.
Tell me what do you find effective for softening stiff boots? I have a pair of Etienne Aigner that are killing my ankles.
HMMMM.. custom leather goods.... OMG! Good for you! Live it and love it!
ETA.. Stormy.. can the LeatherMagic be used on ALL LP leather?
YES !! LeatherMagic is great for all LP leather ! It's not easy to find appropriate products for nakkies .
I am Native American, you know, fringe & us...
Leather Art is a passion; I can't call it a job.
If your boots are hurting, Neatsfoot or Mink Oil will soften them ~ work it in and take your time flexing the ankle leather with warm hands. Maybe a little stretching will help, too. You can use Angelus brand for DIY or ask your local leather/shoe guy to help.
I am lucky that all my critters are trained to not touch leather unless invited. They are respectful of but curious about the furs.
Ellie, I am glad you found LP. We have our own new thread for chat, if you'd like to join us there.
Help! So I didn't go through all the pages but it seems like most of the comments are regarding the leather of a LP purse...well, stupid me, I had raspberries in my bag that got smooshed and it left a small red stain on the inside of my bag!![]()
I'm scared to try to get it out and make it worse so I came here to see if any of you had any ideas how I could get it out! Any suggestions greatly appreciated!!!
