can't keep 'em all...

If you decide you like the whiskey Mandy enough that you want to keep it, I think you should take the one you have now back to the outlet and pay the extra $80 for a brand new one. I think it's complete BS that you were tricked into thinking the one you currently have was perfect when, in fact, it was very far from it. Considering how much you paid for it, $80 isn't much and I think a new one would be worth the extra.

problem is, i can't get back to the outlet i got it at. i'd have to go to another one- and not sure if they would take my word for it, you know?

it sorta bothers me. i mean, any bag they have there with any sort of wear on it, it gets a 50% off tag as a final sale. why should this one be an exception? (and, no, i'm not being overly cheap. but for that price, a bag with these problems makes me upset).

Why can't you go back. Is it just too far to drive? Maybe you could save the receipt and make the trip on a weekend and it would be like money in the bank. I agree with the others, I would call and make them aware of the condition on the Mandy and tell them I could not get back to that outlet until such and such date, but that I would return it or ask their suggestion for returning to an outlet closer to you and maybe they will call and let them know to expect the return. Maybe this is asking alot. But so is $700 for an outlet bag that is not in great condition.

the outlet i went to is a good 3.5 hours away. i have no intention of driving to sc to return a bag. we have an outlet that is about an hour from here, which is i have no problem going to...but i guess i'll give the one in sc a call and see what they say.

Kallison,
What was your final decision Mandy or Tote? I think I felt pressure to favor the Mandy because we know that they are so hard to get, but if it doesn't make us happy, it really doesn't matter. Maybe it will make someone else happy. oh well, just curious, sometimes it is so hard to decide.

i haven't decided yet.

my class on friday was cancelled, so i think i'm going up to the outlet closest to me- and i'm going to see if they'll give me an adjustment because of the condition. if not, i'm returning it.

I think you should return the mandy, it's not a very good deal and the tote, it's not a cute on you as the others.
Wait to get the mandy at the PCE and maybe the shoulder will hold your interest till then.
: )
I get the you need the bigger bag, I'm bigger and I hate when a bag is so cute but doesn't look good on me....and the mandy looks good on you.
: D

I agree with whomever it was that said you should speak to the manager at the outlet where you purchased the bag, and complain about that guy. I worked at an outlet and there is NO WAY that kind of behavior was tolerated. In fact, the SA's at the one I worked for, HATED ebay resellers, and never bent over backwards for them.

There is no way you should have been pressured, and that worker is giving Coach a bad name. He shouldn't be allowed to do that. In fact, he's lucky you weren't a secret shopper or whatever they call them. He would have been busted big time. Especially when he lied to you about what was available. The manager should be made aware of what kind of people work in her store. That's just wrong.

As for getting the additional discount off the Mandy..good luck, I hope they do, but it will be difficult since they won't be able to prove when the damage occurred, since you've had it for a few days.

stophle, thanks so much for your reply. :)

and you better believe they're gonna discount that mandy or take it back. no way in heck i could mess up a bag in less than a week- especially since my shoulder bag is still looking pretty darn good, and i've toted that everywhere. they make way too much freaking money off of me to treat me like that and get away with it!

 Kallison... In my opinion that is a good decision... no matter how great you think a bag is going to work out, if you look at it and it reminds you of a negative experience, how much $$ it costs, or go "ugh"... you're not going to want to use it.

Good luck taking it back!! I hope you feel good afterwards!

Of course not. Only you know what will make you feel good, and what won't. Whatever feels like the right decision to you, is what you should do. I also wouldn't give that SA the satisfaction of keeping a bag he sold to you in such an awful manner. Does he lose credit for selling it to you, if it's returned? I worked in the stockroom the little time I was at Coach, so I don't know how that works.
