Can I Borrow Your Bag?

If it someone I know pretty well and trust...sure... But only if they are super 100% trustworthy. I have let friends borrow bags before incl. the premier bags in my collection but not anything super new or recent buys.

Years ago when I would occasionally lend to someone, books were the worst to get back from someone! I don't know if they thought that just because I had read it that maybe I did not want it anymore or what but I thought I had made it clear that I was LENDING them the book! They always seemed kinda surprised when I would ask for it back several weeks later. YES I want my property back! Alot of people are very presumptuous when it comes to books. Like "Oh, I will have to borrow that from you." I make no apologies; I flat out tell them--I don't lend books but the library would be happy to do that for you.

Then I had a co worker ask a few weeks ago if she could borrow a cigarette. "Are you going to give it back to me when you're done with it? Because I really don't want a smoked cigarette. Do you actually plan on ever repaying for this? Probably not, so just ASK ME FOR ONE." If she wasn't such a lazy worker who doesn't care about the job, I probably wouldn't have said anything and just gave her one.

My mom can borrow any bag she wants from my collection. We have different tastes in bags tho. (A few years ago I had a siggy red on cherry bag that is just the prettiest thing. It was a MFF and I got it for a hundred bucks, but practically it was just too small for me. I like big bags. Mom loves it tho and has carried it a lot.). Also I keep her pretty well stocked in bags. :-)

I have coworkers that I would loan certain bags to. These people are my friends, and if I have a certain clutch in an unusual color that is going to match their evening outfit it I would lend it.

But FOR A NIGHT!

My favorites aren't lent ever to anyone (tho Mom could have if she wanted). It's just too stressful to worry about where my beloved bag is.

Apparently my civility has caused her to think I like her enough to do such a thing. I just don't even bother to loan them. Some bags can't be replaced or they'll be replaced at a much heftier cost.

So...apparently my coworker thinks my real name is Bag, Borrow, Steal. I'm sitting at my desk and I hear a voice say "Can I borrow that blue bag you have?" I'm ignoring her because I just KNOW she's not talking to me. She repeats herself but says my name this time.

Has anyone ever asked to borrow your beloved Coach and did you let them?

BTW, my answer was no.

WOW, that is nervy! Or as my grandmother would have said "She has chutzpah"!

I can't believe a coworker asked you to borrow her bag. She is so out of line there.

No, I would not lend out my bags! Not even to my daughter. She and I are very similar in personality except for the fact that I'm a neat freak and take careful care of my possessions. She is a slob and will throw her purses on the dirty floor, public bathroom counters, and seems to get finger nails scratches over the 2 leather bags she owns even though she really likes them.

I borrow bags with my bestie all the time. I hate to admit this but at times she treats my bags better than I do, lol. :shame:

I temporarily trade with my mom at times, too. She does not baby her bags at all and it makes me nervous to let her use my favorite bags. However, she's my mom and she doesn't ask very often. She also knows that I have some bags that I don't let anyone use. Right now, I'm borrowing her Amethyst Bridgit and she has my Mahogany Eva. I hear that she is taking very good care of it, thank the lord, lol.

I also sometimes let my aunt borrow my bags. In fact, she has my Colorblock Patricia and I think that she is going to end up buying her from me because she loves it so much. The only problem is that I do too so I'm going to have to buy another one. :eyeroll:

I will say that prior to Fall 2012, none of the important ladies in my life carried Coach or any designer brands, myself included. Since then, I have gently introduced them into this addiction and we have a lot of fun talking about bags and even checking out this forum together. They all have decent-sized collections now so it's fun to shop each other's closets from time to time. :smile1:

In terms of a co-worker borrowing bags, though? Unless it was my bestie, mom or aunt I would never loan my bag to a co-worker! Yikes. And to think that OP's co-worker asked about that gorgeous blue zig-zag bag? Absolutely h3ll to the no. :nono:

Lesson learned. People never take care of your things as you would. And it was this bag she wanted to borrow View attachment 2540182. Uh...not no but HELL NO!

Yeeeaaaahhhh, Hell No! I would not even let my mom barrow that bag and I trust my mother with my children everyday. lol

When I read that she asked for "that blue bag" I thought to myself "no way can she mean THAT blue bag"???? The nerve! She obviously has no idea what she is asking for or she is just plain cray cray.

This thread is awesome!

I don't let anyone borrow anything ever thanks to some bad experiences. I would let my Mom borrow my bags, though because she loves her bags as much as I love mine (I get my purse and shoe thing from her), and I know she would take care of them. I also know that she would probably never borrow them though since she has plenty of her own! lol! :D

Right! She is one of the same coworkers that didn't mind her bag on the floor. Even if she was as passionate I wouldn't.

I'm still on the hunt for colorblock Patricia. She's the one I let get away.

This weekend she asked about this bag ImageUploadedByPurseForum1395084786.737823.jpg I told her to please stop asking. Not happening. She stood their telling me about the perfect outfit she had for it. First words were: "you make me sick. You need to let me borrow that bag". Yeah, I can think of all the things I NEED to do and that's tops on my list...😞

I absolutely cannot believe some of these stories! I have to laugh when your coworker said she has the perfect outfit to match with your special denim bag. I'm just picturing her wearing jeans, LOL!
The only person I loan my bags to is my daughter and it would only be certain ones! My sister will not wear leather so I'm safe there!:D
