Can I Borrow Your Bag?

You might not only lose the bag, but the friendship/relationship, it's so not worth it!

BTW look at co-signing as lending money you will never ever recover. My sister co-signed for a preacher's son's student loan. We've known them for over 10 years! Who'd have known they'd suddenly move away and now my sister is in her 3rd year having her monthly wage garnished by $500 to pay back the sum of $50,000!!! Those people will have to face God someday!

Wow awful that happened to your sister. Yep, co-signing is like YOU are taking out the loan. I have a cousin who takes every opportunity to ask me to co-sign for him. He asked me to co-sign on an apartment lease "NO", a school loan "NO", and the last time was for an industrial lawn mower to start a business, "NO, NO, and NO"...........

WHAAAAT??? Borrow my bag - UH NO!!!!
I don't even let my family borrow my bags.
I have a friend that wanted to borrow my Wine Bleeker Duffle a few years ago. She was going to visit her daughter in NYC and she wanted to use my duffle to put her shoes in and purchases she had made. NO Way!!!

Put her shoes in??? Wow!

Now see I'd have to have some fun with her. I'd place the bag with my family's Soprano pic on it daring her to touch it or a well placed cap gun poking out of the top usually will get the message across too. Of course, doing both will ensure her rude mouth stays closed. It's also a neat party trick for when you want some privacy to get your work done or to just be left alone.

PS: Make sure your office or workspace is away from HR unless you plan on collecting unemployment or making a visit to the local precinct to say hey to your local law enforcement peeps :smile1:

I'd easily tell a coworker no.. Close friends and fam are harder to say no to so I just pray they keep it in good condition. The only ppl I'd lend to unconditionally would be my sisters, sil (hubby's sis not his brothers or my brothers wives lol) or my nonexistent daughters and future dil lol.

This reminds me of a weird coworker from my Air Force days. I didnt even work in the same office as her, she was down the hall from me in another department. We lived in the same dorm, and all we really did was say hi in passing. Imagine my surprise when one day she called out of nowhere to ask if I had good credit, and would I co-sign a car loan for her!!!!

I had a friend of many years ask me the same thing once. I love her to death, but there is a reason she would need a cosigner. She is terrible with money, and she had run up huge balances with cell phone and utility companies that she was ultimately unable to pay. She also would frequently move, so I am sure she probably left some pissed off landlords in her wake. She even wrote a couple of bad checks. As much as I love her, I couldn't put my own credit at risk, because I just knew she would somehow end up not making the payments on the loan. I actually lied and told her that I have bad credit to avoid having to tell her that I think she's too irresponsible.

I know what you mean. I was in a crowded public place, and this little kid's grimy hands were getting too close to my bag. I had to restrain myself from roaring like a lioness at the little guy.

I think we all feel that way about our bags. I'm very protective of mine. I have a coworker/friend that loves to model my bags. She's allowed. She gets me! :)

My sister asked me a few times to cosign on cars and apartments, during a period of time where she kept getting "laid off" from jobs. I felt bad, but I couldn't say yes. I know she was in a bad spot, but she needed to figure out how to get herself out of it and keep herself from going back into it!

Now, the other girl, I did *not* feel bad saying "No, I am not able to do that", and hanging up.

I've had friends ask to borrow money, and then get really nasty when I later asked if they could start repaying me what I loaned, about how they thought it was a gift and they can't believe I am ruining the "friendship" over money. Er, you didn't ask me to give you money, you asked me to loan you money, and we talked about repayment, and now you are mad at ME? This was a few hundred dollars. Needless to say, we are no longer friends, even though they did repay me. Lesson learned!
