Oh, and as to how well it will hold up in the rain, well, it's going to be around 85F/29C out today, so I have no idea. I'm concerned as to how it will hold up in the heat as it can reach 118F/48C in the summer depending on what part of L.A. County one is in. So, if it's left in the car, while doing errands, will it melt? LOL!

I think Cambridge satchels are definitely a trend and they're way too stiff for me. Slouchier versions are more likely to last, or satchels like the Scaramanga versions that are smooth but rugged and have the grown-up schoolbag style properly nailed.

I bought the same style satchel, minus the backpack conversion, in Scandinavia, in the early 70s. They don't really go out of style and as for what I'm using it for, I need it more for function, as in throwing stuff in it for work, than for fashion. I have more than enough bags for fashion. But, at least my bright, red Cambridge will be a bit more exciting than the brown or black bags, briefcases, and other similar satchels that I see at work. And I love that I will be able to throw it on my back, as I opted for the backpack style.

I requested the 15" satchel in tan from The Cambridge Satchel Company as a bday present. It took about 5/6 wks from date of ordering to delivery, but when I emailed them after 4 weeks, they promptly responded to my inquiry. I really appreciate this, as it's sometimes hard to pin down a response from online companies.

I love my satchel. Yes the leather is stiff, but that's what I wanted because I intend to use it alot and I dont want it losing its shape. The fact that each one is handmade means the quality is great. The price is so reasonable too!

I personally think it's a classic shape and I'm glad I got mine in a trad colour. I always wanted one and it really suits me. I now want to get the 11" fluro pink too, despite the fact that this is probably more of a "trend". It's fun and a bit more edgy and, at the price, I don't think it'll be one of those I regret :)

I like that the leather is stiff, too. Then my batchel doesn't fall over. It stands up perfectly. I have it stuffed right now and ready for another day at work.

My first satchel/batchel, back in the early 70s, was made of either soft leather or pleather, I can't remember which, but although I loved it, it didn't hold its shape and it kept falling over when I sat it down. I thus prefer stiff leather.

I love it but it look horrible on me so I skip.

I think it depends on your style. The bag is frankly speaking, very simple style and has been there forever. It just becomes a trend lately. So, I'd say if it goes well with how you dress, I don't see any problem with it.

I think this style is only for younger girls. I'm 31 and I definitely feel too old for this style.

I'm in my 50s and am rocking a red, backpack, batchel with COOL embossed on it and it suits my style just fine. I've gotten so many compliments and it just arrived a few days ago and I've only used it for two days. On the Cambridge website, there are women of all ages carrying them.

sorry, did not mean to offend – that's just my humble opinion about the bags for me. I just don't feel comfortable with that style, but you're probably right, it depends on your whole appearance and style. Happy this is working out well for you!

I have the 15" tan cambridge satchel and love it - i've received so many compliments/people asking where i got it from.

I'm a uni student so i find it a great size when carrying many books or my laptop to uni.
It's a timeless style and I hope it lasts so long I can pass it on.

I have a fluro orange satchel and i am constantly complimented on it! it is an awesome bag for school!Even my prof was telling me how nice and bright it is:-) Love it!
It held up great in the rain too! No spots or bubbles, even though i was paranoid that it will be covered in wet spots after!

Day before yesterday I was walking to my car, with my Cambridge backpack batchel on my back, and it started raining cats and dogs. It was a very unexpected downpour. When I got to my car, I checked out my batchel and it was still perfection. The rain didn't affect it in the least bit. I expected it to be able to hold up as it's made in rainy England.
