Picked up this lovely Ostrich Calvi in Rose Tyrien on a recent trip to the U.K. They had a matching Bastia that I passed on, and now I kind of regret it...
Beeeeeeee Utiful!!!!! I've never seen a calvi in Ostrich, let alone in the best pink everrrrrrr! I have a rather useless bastia in RT chevre but will not part with it bc of the color/leather combo hahaha Anyway, you scored big with a calvi so Congrats!

Ughhh you make me regret passing on a matte green gator Calvi I was offered a few weeks ago while on vacation in Hawaii....I forget what green it was but it reminded me of the croc in Peter Pan it was exquisite but in my head I reminded myself I was holding out for my first B which I’m still waiting for. A beautiful little Calvi would’ve helped pass the time!

You know, over 6 months ago the website had the green croc calvi card holder! You missed out on that one also! I was going to buy that but I waited particularly for this color! It pops and is sensational! Calvi in croc is hard to come by and only limited pieces!

Does Hermes online offer new colors monthly or anytime? I’m deciding on the goatskin or epsom, I think the goatskin calvi is thicker and heavier than epsom?
Any time of the day, any day. It’s all luck and chance. You are correct about the leathers. The goatskin will be more malleable but lighter. Both are beautiful, in my opinion.

Another question  what is the Madame leather? I saw this calvi card holder in Madame calfskin leather, and the others are epsom and Mysore. But what is Madame calfskin and how is it like??
Many thanks again!

Madame calfskin is very similar to Epsom except it’s a finer grain. They are both pressed leathers meaning the grain is machine made and somewhat regular. I prefer madame as it feels a bit softer than Epsom.

What do you ladies do with coins? In Europe this is especially a nuisance when one is always using both paper and coins.

I am just seeing this, not sure if you are still looking for an answer.

I try to avoid coins like the plague in the U.S. But when I am in Europe, it’s much harder to avoid, so I use a Bastia for coins. I often do UK / Europe in one trip, so I have been using two separate Bastias for pounds and euros. It is quite nice actually, as I get them mixed up all the time otherwise.

I live between UK and France; I have a Calvi for cards and banknotes, the coins I throw directly into my bag.
So uncool, but I pay for everything by card while in UK and for the odd bottle of milk I’m stirring the depths to find coins.
In France it’s more complicated as cards for small grocery purchases aren’t common, so the coins go in a pocket.
I’m too mean to buy a Bastia!
Anyway , coins are a major nuisance here , the sooner we do away with them altogether , the better.
But I adore Calvi and am always open to acquiring more if I fall for another colour.
